Getting There

There are some obvious tutors like Gamble and Kuldotha Forgemaster, then there's cards like Moggcatcher for getting Goblin Warchief, or Sarkhan's Triumph for getting Hoarding Dragon. If tutoring fails, we dig for pieces with wheels and Wild Guesses. Hazoret's Monument is particularly useful for filtering if we've assembled most, but not all of the combo.

Failure Modes

It's mono red for god's sake. It burns through its hand, it has no responses, any ramp depends on artifacts and my moxen are hiding in my Jhoira deck. I have Fork and Reverberate, possibly Pyroblast and Burnout depending on the meta, and redundancy up the Arcanis, but this deck has a lot against it.

Updates, Changes, Etc.

After the Paradox Engine ban, this deck consistently had a sort of "empty space" that was easy to slot things into. Here's an incomplete list of things I tried:

• Politics: Lavabrink Floodgates, Diaochan, Artful Beauty, Humble Defector
• My favorite Combo: Isochron Scepter, Sundial of the Infinite, Final Fortune
• Infinite mana combo: Mana Geyser, Reiterate
• Mill: Perpetual Timepiece, Altar of Dementia, Codex Shredder
• More redundancies: Ruby Medallion, Bontu's Monument
• Random binder stuff: Staff of Nin, Geth's Grimoire, Doubling Cube
• Fancy stuff that works but is now in other decks: Cloud Key, Chrome Mox

Then I stopped finding the deck so fun to play, and decided to overhaul it.

I'm cutting these combos:

Mycosynth Lattice+Ashnod's Altar+{Squee costs 1 less}+{Squeefall}

Dualcaster Mage+Twinflame

As well as these combo pieces:

• Gate to the Afterlife, because I just don't like it
• Blasting Station, because it often doesn't work the way I need it to

I'm also cutting out impulse effects like Act on Impulse, which have been a pretty big feature of this deck in the past.
