So I finally levelled up my Asmira, Holy Avenger deck.

It's budget is now close to $50, even though that's only because of Rhys the Redeemed that I got in a well-played condition at a great discount. A really budget alternative for him is Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage, which lets you populate one creature for 4 mana, or slightly more expensive, Trostani, Selesnya's Voice which can't add tokens but populates for 3 mana.

Highlights of the deck are:

1. Tokens: the new addition of Eldrazi drones, giving us little creatures that are easily sacrificed to buff Asmira, Holy Avenger, Rot Shambler or Algae Gharial. Other token producers include: Rhys the Redeemed, Pollenbright Wings, Alive / Well, Growth Spasm, Kessig Cagebreakers - which loves a big graveyard, Centaur's Herald & Sacred Mesa, which also add toward the death toll, and lastly Requiem Angel that gives us more tokens every time a one of the others dies.

2. Resurrection spells: including Reya Dawnbringer, Angel of Glory's Rise, Adarkar Valkyrie, Sigil of the New Dawn, Evolution Charm, & Elven Cache, Remember the Fallen. Plus Auriok Survivors to retrieve an equipment - and Buried Ruin & Salvage Scout to retrieve any artifact.

3. Equipment: Including newly added Chitinous Cloak & Hedron Blade for that pesky colorless deck that has appeared in my meta. Swing with a little guy equipped with a Moonsilver Spear on a suicide run - next turn, you can attach the spear to a 4/4 angel! Sword of the Meek is in here, and fun in a token deck. Just try to destroy it. Just try! Fetch any of the equipment with Steelshaper Apprentice.

4. Defense: In addition to the usual suite of artifact, enchantment, & creature removal, I've also added some cards to help the ones you prefer survive - you don't want to re-cast Asmira and lose all those counters! Shield of the Oversoul, Mother of Runes, Rootborn Defenses, Inviolability & Canopy Cover can keep your favorites alive. Metallurgeon can keep opponents from destroying your artifacts. Which is good, because this build also includes Crawlspace & Norn's Annex to keep from being overwhelmed while your creatures bite the dust. Pair Nightshade Peddler with an expendable token and then repeat while your opponents fear your deathtouch! Even better if you can tack it on to the fliers generated by Sacred Mesa or Requiem Angel.

5. Neverending Life - Shhhh! There's three great combos in this deck. This isn't a combo deck, but if you can pull it off, well, who can stop you? First off Adarkar Valkyrie + Augur il-Vec + Thornbite Staff or Adarkar Valkyrie + Bottle Gnomes + Thornbite Staff for infinite life. Put the staff on the Valkyrie, tap it to target the Gnomes or Augur, then sac the little guy for life. He dies, Valkyrie untaps, he comes back, rinse, repeat. Infinite life. Even better if Rot Shambler or Algae Gharial is on the field - then you also have an infinitely powered creature. (I think because of her wording, Asmira won't get infinite buffs this way. But I could be wrong.) Steelshaper Apprentice can tutor up the staff, but for the other two pieces, you're on your own. Good luck! (If you want to go more toward the combo, Brindle Boar can also be a sac engine.)

6. Neverending Death: (mostly) Gorgon's Head + Thornbite Staff . Attach both equipment to any creature. Now it has deathtouch. Which means it has (T), kill target creature, untap, repeat. As long as you have mana, you can kill anything you don't like, as long as it doesn't have hexproof. And then, of course, the dead creatures help the Algae Gharial. Too bad the only shaman with free equip is Trostani's Summoner. Extra Bonus: both parts of the combo are fetchable with the Steelshaper Apprentice.

6. Neverending Life after Death: Adarkar Valkyrie + Reya Dawnbringer Field wipe... Oh, no! Tap Adarkar Valkyrie targeting Reya Dawnbringer. As long as you can make it to your next upkeep, use Reya to bring back the Valkyrie. They'll keep each other resurrecting over and over, and then the longer you keep both alive, the more of your other creatures you can return. Of course, they won't keep your tokens alive....

Little tiny 1/1 tokens: "We who are about to die salute you!"

Asmira: "Your deaths shall be avenged!"

Requiem Angel: "Boo hoo hoo! At least I have new friends."

Adarkar V: "Oh, no you don't! Get back here!"

Reya: "What are you talking about? You have not died until I consent!"
