The goal in this deck is to utilize a variety of low cost spells that add counters in order to trigger the win condition of Simic Ascendancy. The idea is that with the low cost of the spells you'll be able to cast tons of spells that will quickly build up over time. Make sure to bring LOTS of counters, and/or dice to help keep track of all of your various counters across creatures and cards.

The Win Condition

As with all decks that I love, we have a card that gives us a win other than taking out the opponent. Putting 20 growth counters on Simic Ascendancy will give us a win, which is done through adding +1/+1 counters to creatures we control. This is our goal.

Mana Sources

• Arboreal Grazer just acts as a low mana cost source to get lands out of our hands and into the battlefield quickly.

• Botanical Sanctum should be on the battlefield ASAP to use them untapped before you have three lands total.

• Enter the Unknown is going to be used to get a two for one land drop on a single turn, ideally as early as possible

• The Guildgates will just be used as a way to get our red mana for Slumbering Dragon as well as our green and blue

Counters Galore

• Hardened Scales should be our first card to put down ASAP to maximize our counter creation. As early and as many as possible to speed the game up.

• Primal Cocoon is a nice buffer that can be ideally put on the Sparring Constructs.

• Forced Adaptation is a more permanent Primal Cocoon to be placed on our bigger creatures such as Slumbering Dragon or Hangarback Walker.

• Hunger of the Howlpack can act as just a nice little addition and can be even more helpful after we kill off a creature.

• Enter the Unknown acts as a scry for a land or another source for a counter.

• Energy Chamber and Power Conduit work best together for applying counters onto creatures, both artifact or not.

• Infiltration Lens will just be an extra draw for two cards if necessary after an attack.
