Hello,
This is a deck inspired by LVD's Skeletal Sword deck:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwYlQeVoXng&ab_channel=LegenVD
Two of the cards that interested me the most from the DND set was
Skeletal Swarming
and
Vorpal Sword
, I wasn't to sure how to build a deck for either but as it turns out they're a great match! An infinite production of creatures that can get high trampling power is perfect for an equipment that gives deathtouch and makes it so that any damage that goes through can win the game!
The version that LVD was playing played a lot of land ramp cards, but personally I prefer to use
Letter of Acceptance
which I think is severely under-rated. It lets you use the extra mana right away which is really nice in this deck for playing the
Vorpal Sword
,
Eyetwitch
or a
Neverwinter Dryad
on turn 3 at the same time. It also lets you draw a card if you ever have more mana than you need. That along with all the
Binding the Old Gods
is plenty to reach the 8 mana needed to activate
Vorpal Sword
reasonably quickly.
We tend to end up with some sacrificial creatures, so even though the deck is not built around it, having 2
Plumb the Forbidden
opens the possibility for strong plays with either planeswalker on the field since
Professor Onyx
gets to drain a bunch of life and
Lolth, Spider Queen
gets a bunch of loyalty.
Neverwinter Dryad
can also sacrifice itself to trigger
Lolth, Spider Queen
or even
Skeletal Swarming
on top of being a card that can ramp you on turn 2.
Between the ramp that lets you cast powerful spells ahead of schedule, the versatility of the "learn" cards and the other control elements, the deck works very nicely. It's interesting to note that
Faceless Haven
also gets buffed and trample with
Skeletal Swarming
which becomes a much bigger threat than some would expect.
Bonus point if you get an
Eyetwitch
to drop the
Vorpal Sword
on your opponent's head for the win!
Btw, this deck is 2022 standard legal!
