Using mountains for valakut but nothing else seems..... awkward. at least use Stomping Ground and Sacred Foundry .

Well, through a couple of goldfish runs Steppe Lynx seems pointless.

Maybe using Scapeshift and Prismatic Omen ? I would get rid of Deathrite Shaman , it does not have good synergy with your deck as it exiles the lands when you are supposed to be playing them from your graveyard.

Other than that, I was going to suggest a form of life gain, because with all of your shock lands you are kinda screwed against burn decks. Heroes Remembered , Essence Harvest , Dawnglow Infusion and Sunspring Expedition come to mind. Also, maybe Platinum Angel ?

Looking at this I kinda want to make my own version of this, but Naya, not too sure with or without Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle . Naya, mainly because of cards like Cosmic Larva , Greater Gargadon and Thoughts of Ruin come to mind.

@ Femme_Fatale

This is where I'm stumped.

I started putting this deck together as a way to use my playset of Valakuts and Knight of the Reliquary .

It turned into this bastardization of a Rock/Valakut deck...

I'm very much a midrange player so Rock appeals to me, but I'm also a dirty Johnny. Sooooo....If I could slip 2-3 Scapeshift s into this deck as a way to sneak in a win then I'd be happy with that. I think you're right about the Shamans not fitting, they eat my resources but I'm concerned that the deck is too slow and would end up just being impotent.

Could always use Walking Atlas . Perhaps things like Arbor Elf or Llanowar Elves ? And I always thought Lotus Cobra would be enough for this deck.

I'll make the Naya version and see what I can come up with, I honestly think your black is what is hurting you. Though I never was much of a fan of any form of discard, especially not after my episodes of trying to get a 0 maximum hand size + Storm Cauldron combo to work.

I think I'll keep the Shamans and Thoughtseize for now. They provide me with a lot of resilience and tempo/control. The Raven's Crime have been underwhelming so I'll trim those, but Ob gives me a nice backup win-con with Scapeshift .

Your Storm Cauldron combo sounds cruel and unusual...and hilarious.
