Possible changes —Dec. 11, 2019

I'm leaving the list as is on here so I can roll it back but I'm gonna be trying some fairly big changes in the next couple of weeks.

I've taken the Mnemonic Walls out and have decided to rely solely on Mystic Sanctuary. I'm not sure this is going to be a permanent change, but it let me save a ton of deck space since Mystic Sanctuary is still a land. This has allowed me to make some shifts:

The reasoning for those changes is the following:

  • Since I took the Mnemonic Walls out, Snap felt a lot worse as it is no longer a replacement combo piece for Ghostly Flicker, so I swapped a couple for Prohibit which can let me survive a bit better I feel.

  • Since I took some Snaps out and I can no longer combo with them, I also cut some bouncelands and replaced them with other lands.

  • Futhermore, I had originally cut a Deep Analysis to have a good Island count for card:Mystic Santuary but since I cut some bouncelands, this was no longer necessary so it came right back in

  • Since Stonehorn Dignitary is worse without Mnemonic Wall, I decided to cut the maindeck copy and added 3 Prismatic Strands to fill the hole it left in the deck's survivability

  • At this point, I was still missing a card, so I added the fourth Sea Gate Oracle

  • After some more testing, I decided to cut 2 Ponder. They're really not great in the deck. Shuffling is pretty bad because you put so many cards on the bottom with Sea Gate Oracle, yet you're sometimes forced to

  • With the two slots gained from those 2 Ponder, I decided to add some options to the deck with Dispel and Echoing Truth in the main. They're both nice to have access to game 1. Echoing Truth is especially good vs Slippery Bogle decks and elves, which are fairly bad matchups game 1 and Dispel gives us an edge vs other Ghostly Flicker decks and lets us not auto-lose vs Tireless Tribe decks

  • The changes to the sideboard were pretty straightforward: more counterspells, especially vs tron which can just roll over us if they get the engine going. I also felt like Standard Bearer was not great. Against burn, it was a mediocre Blue Elemental Blast and it felt so bad I didn't even board it against mono green, despite their high pump spells count. The only matchup it was good against was bogles, but I don't play against a ton of bogles and Stonehorn Dignitary + Prismatic Strands are more than enough vs bogles.
