This is my early attempt at a budget, non-infinite version of the new Urza commander. I want to make a deck that is okay to play in a playgroup that is on an equal footing with other decks, that is to say, on a 6 or 7-ish out of 10 on the commandzone scale.

I want to make this deck mainly for flavour reasons. I love Urza as a character and I would love to play him as the commander of my deck. If you do not know who Urza is, Aether hub made a couple of video's about Urza and his story arc (that spans a dozen or so of books):

In short, Urza is the original main character, the one who was in the centre of MTG story for years.

So, how do we play this deck?

This is a pure artifact deck. We want to get a lot of artifacts out that give us a lot of mana and draw us loads of cards so we can cast devastating spells. With Urza, all our artifacts are manarocks, so we can get a lot of mana really easily. We also always have a mana-sink in Urza. We have a number of permanents that help us draw. Such as Mind's Eye and Vedalken Archmage. We also have a lot of spells that help us draw. We have a number of draw-x spells and a card like Paradoxical Outcome that can not only save our board but also draw us a load of card and possibly power our aetherflux reservoir. We are running a few two-drop ramp cards that can help us cast Urza a turn earlier than usual. Although it is not at all a bad idea to built up a bit of a board before casting Urza.

We are also running a number of protection cards, like Darksteel Plate, and a number of counterspells to protect our commander. Once Urza resolves, all our artifacts will tap for mana so we can immediatly tap them in response to some removal spells in order to protect Urza.

This deck runs a number of wincons and a few tutors to help make them happen.

The first is to blink urza a lot and make an army of constructs. This can be done by combining urza with Deadeye Navigator.

The second wincon is to make a load of mana, cast Enter the Infinite, cast the new jace win the game.

The third wincon is Aetherflux Reservoir. This deck can easily cast a load of spells in one turn through a combination of discount on artifact spells and the fact that all artifacts tap for mana. It is therefore easy to get a lot of life and turn the death laser on an opponent.

The fourth wincon is to use the antiquities war saga to turn all our artifacts into 5/5's, under the right conditions, this can be a huge army.

Thanks for reading and please help me out with the difficult choices that must be made.
