Yes! I live in Dayton! Where do you play? There's a ton of stores up here and I play at almost all of them regularly. Never actually played down in Cincy but it's not that far. I wonder why upvote buttons wouldn't work.

Wow small world haha. I have mostly played at two headed games in kentucky but I am definitely open to go nearer to dayton to try out a new playgroup. I literally travel all over the state for work so distance is not ususally a huge deal. How competitive are the decks you usually play against? In other words how quickly will they win the game if unchecked. I would like to tune my deck appropriately so I am not "that guy". As for the button. Its one of many issues with my account :-/ Ill keep trying

We have EDH FNM at Game Haven at 7 pm every week, and there's EDH night at Epic Loot in Centerville a little closer to Cincy. The decks vary widely but we try to keep the overpowered decks in check and discourage really aggressive play. This isn't a competitive format and most people understand that.

It's actually not a Derevi deck. I don't know what got messed up in what I was saying, but it's not.

It's a Rubinia Soulsinger deck, built around tutors and using my deck as my hand, often preferably to my real hand. Glaring Spotlight is my key defense against this deck, and it pretty well does the whole job if I can get it out of the deck. Derevi is a minor combo piece that accelerates my game plan but is far from essential. I have restricted much of my deck to make it not too competitive, in any case: no more than one infinite combo, which I'll probably remove, and little or no mana acceleration. I am still quite confident that it could beat this deck, with what I know of it. Feel free to correct me.

Before you mention it, I've checked. Privileged Position and Uril are both errata'ed to hexproof.

I hope this explains some of what you haven't understood of what I am saying.

To cantrip through your entire deck, you need an infinite mana generator. That's my point, there. I did not see it, and did not see it mentioned, so I assumed that it could not be done in one turn.

Not wanting to use a skill-less insta-win is being "that guy". The reasoning was late, but you did give it. That, I fully understand.

What day of the week is the centerville EDH night?

August 14, 2016 2:42 p.m.

NotSquishedYet any deck can beat any other deck due to a concept called variance. There is a probability that any player will draw a sub-par combination of cards and therefore not be able to compete with your superior draws. I am well aware of what Glaring Spotlight does as well as the fact that Uril and Privileged Position have/give hexproof. Fortunately, Glaring Spotlight has almost no representation in any EDH meta I have ever seen, anywhere in the country. You have said nothing that I don't understand, we just have a different perspective on deckbuilding apparently. You do not need infinite mana to cantrip through the deck. The various enchantress effects let me draw multiple cards every time I cast an enchantment and the high-value lands like Gaea's Cradle and Serra's Sanctum combined with Mana Reflection and all of the untap lands effects can generate more mana than the deck can actually use.

Are you saying I am "that guy" because I don't want to do a dumb 10-mana win-the-game single card thing (not a combo since it's literally one card that says I win)? Because I would rather win in an interesting and creative way, than just flipping over my whole deck and saying you lose because I got lucky and topdecked one card. Also, that would be boring and unfun after doing it once.

Not what I was referring to, but I see no reason to argue about it further. Let's say you got the last word and be done with it.

Actually, no. You would be "that guy" if you did want to.

Primal Surge is a may ability so you can stop when you want to and not mill yourself

August 31, 2016 11:22 a.m.

That's true but the reason I don't play it is because I like to set myself deckbuilding restrictions in order to stimulate creativity. I detest auto-win cards like Primal Surge or 2-card wins cons like Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts . It comes down to play style; also, this deck doesn't need primal surge to play the whole deck, and doing it the hard way by actually casting all of the spells makes the victory more satisfying to me.

I understand that. I eventually took out my Felidar Sovereign from my life gain deck.

That's cute. This deck is clearly designed by an amateur unaware of cards like Ethereal Armor. Not looking for suggestions of cards that would be good in a deck that runs auras. That is not remotely the point of this deck.

September 5, 2016 12:03 a.m.

I could write something insulting, but I'll leave it at: Write what you mean about a suggestion. If you're sarcastic and mocking, they will not appreciate it.

Anyway. Have fun doing your thing. You won't see me here again, however you want to take that.

September 5, 2016 12:43 a.m.

No one asked you for your input in the first place and everything you write is veritably incomprehensible. It's near clear who you are specifically referencing or what you are trying to say. My sarcasm is almost required for such an asinine suggestion as a one drop aura that is an auto-include in every try-hard aggro Voltron deck, which I have tried to make clear, this deck is not. Nor is it a Primal Surge deck. I don't understand why you or anyone else thinks they should, or have a right to tell me what my deck should do or how to do it.

For everyone discussing Primal Surge, Words of Wilding and Abundance both replace draws with other effects. Get them out and leave one card in your deck and you can ignore the draw triggers (orvturn them to beasties). They also both work nicely with enchatresses Inherent draw power.

What do you do when your opponent runs Bruna, Light of Alabaster?

September 7, 2016 11:17 a.m.

I have never encountered a Bruna deck while playing this deck actually but I'd probably just neutralize her with Darksteel Mutation, Lignify, or Song of the Dryads. Now with Sigarda's Aid I can cast them all at instant speed. Or attack the Bruna player with an enchanted Krond the Dawn-Clad and just exile Bruna before she can block. The deck isn't actually a Voltron deck and doesn't need the auras to win anyways, but the certainly do help. Oftentimes just dumping 100+ mana intro Kessig Wolf Run twice and using it on two different creatures to kill my opponents is fine.

September 7, 2016 11:29 a.m.

Good point Citridon, Abundance would be solid and was in the original version of the deck 5 years ago. I don't know what I would cut for it though as there are about 20 other cards I would also like to fit into the deck. Thanks for pointing that out about Primal Surge though, it's a good anti-mill strategy anyway.

I apologize if anything i talk about has already been discussed. Have you thought about running Null Rod and good Linvala to increase your artifact hate? I feel like this deck would have issues with artifact combos and both those stop those decks as well as Linvala stopping decks like Elfball and Mayeal.

November 8, 2016 9:59 p.m.

Those cards are both good but this deck already has plenty of artifact hate, more than most decks I've seen before and I wouldn't want to remove an enchantment to add another Stony Silence effect in the form of Null Rod. This deck is worried less about opponents doing their thing, and is more concerned about executing it's mission as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Why no Sol Ring?

November 16, 2016 12:27 a.m.

Because I don't like running Sol Ring in green decks. Also, I didn't want to have any artifacts in here except for the bare minimum necessary to give the deck some explosive effects. Green can usually do mana ramp fine imo and doesn't need artifact mana. Look at my mono green deck, there's no artifacts at all.

Straight dope.

I've got a buddy who cobbled an Uril deck together from his bulk boxes when he was a poor masters student. This list will be some serious inspiration for him now that he's got a job!

Your Plateau alter is fucking incredible too. Cheers!

January 12, 2017 2:16 a.m.

Thanks for the kind words. This deck has been a labor of love so I really appreciate it. The Plateau and other two ABU dials are actually a panorama of a single scene when placed next to each other. I had the artist, Marta Molina, add Uril to the middle, standing in the mist and it was incredible because I'd never imagined him being as big as the mountain range but if you look at his art there's really no familiar object for reference. He could actually be that big! Best of luck to your friend.
