Unburial CoCo

Sideboard

This is an Abzan Coco deck with unburial rites. You focus on using a combination of cards to "dig" into your deck to bring out your small creatures to the battlefield with collected company, and then with your cards like Satyr Wayfinder you mill yourself to bring out creatures from the grave with unburial rites. You might thing, "John, why would I want to pay 4 or 5 mana to bring out 1-3 drops?!?" And that is the kicker of the deck. You want to cheat out Serra Avenger and start swinging, because with your mana dorks and cards like wood elves, you will have "chump-blockers" and ramp easily making their way to the battlefield. I know that some of the other cards in the deck (planeswalkers) might be confusing, but they were the ones that I had, but I came to realize how awesome their anthem abilities are. Gideon can hit his ultimate right away giving you a +1+1 emblem anthem right away. Nissa can come to the battlefield quickly use her second ability to give +1+1 to all the creatures you amassed and stick around with 1 loyalty, and she can create her own "chump blocker" army making her hard to deal with. Garruk, Apex Predator was in the very first booster of magic I ever opened and he has been a pet card for me. This guy is a freaking beast if you can get him on the battlefield. While he can cost 7mana total, he has Four abilities. The first is a plus ability to kill another planeswalker, I've actually used this quite a bit. His second is another plus ability to bring out a black 3/3 with deathtouch, not just a blocker, but a threat. Third ability is a sorcery speed removal of an opponent's creature, but you get life too. And if you can keep him around long enough, which is fairly easy, you can hit his ultimate and essentially win the game with an amazing emblem that you give your opponent stating that when you attack with your creatures, they get +5+5 and trample to pretty much better than overrun your opponent's blockers. Straight up beautiful. Elspeth, Sun's Champion is in the sideboard for the simple fact that I haven't tried her, but in some of my other decks I have found that she is just a mono white powerhouse for this deck because she gives you three, count em three, 1/1 soldiers for a plus ability. And with this deck, since you are playing with creatures Cmc 3 or less, you are bound to run into your opponent playing some bigger creatures, so her second ability gets rid of anything you cannot handle while keeping your tiny army in the running. And her final ability gives a much appreciated anthem that not only pumps creatures to a +2+2 but also gives them flying. Essentially while they may be a bit expensive, both Garruk and Elspeth have the main swarm wincon written right on them. Now if these big boys don't stick around too long or you need their effects again you can pack the deck with the couple of eternal wittinesses. I only have one and it was working just fine, but by having two it allows you to reuse any of the cards from your deck that you easily milled to your graveyard or already used. Keep on building up your company!
