Hello! and welcome to version 1.0 of my Temur Pirates deck with loads of playtesting to come. This is my take on Malcolm Tana and my first Temur deck design. I've decided to build my deck a little differently than some of the other's I've seen with a hard focus on aggressive push for wins while at the same time avoiding the "take your shot" and hope to win style of this deck I've seen. To that end, I've chosen to avoid cards like simian spirit guide and the extra turn spells in favor of prolonging the game with as many aggressive win attempts as possible. Right or wrong decision? Time will tell!

I've added loads of tutors in this deck along with a lot of interaction in the form of counterspells and creature removal and bounce effects. This deck "should" play well through stax but some creatures like Opposition Agent, Collector Ouphe, and Null Rod style effects can give us trouble. Fortunately, outside of opposition agent I don't see a ton of those cards in my local meta due to the swarms of artifacts present.

I've tried to include as many high density card draw and mana ramp cards as possible and to make every card included as valuable as possible so that we can pivot from one wincon to the next near seamlessly. With an abundance of creature tutors and ease of combo creation this deck should be able to consistently threaten wins quite frequently. Cards like Malcolm, Ragavan, and PFB allow us to generate treasures with Dockside serving as our allstar as usual. Combo protection in the form of Autumn's Veil, Veil of Summer, Vexing Shusher, Allosaurus Shepard, and Spellskite can take some pressure off of our creatures during combo set up. Phyrexian metamorph, Spellseeker, and Phantasmal Image allow us to find what we need, make extra use of our instants and sorceries, and copy the best creature or artifact on the field as well.

Winning:

Malcolm Glint-horn Buccaneer: The main combo line of this deck along with most decks like it is the 1 card combo between Malcolm and Glint-horn Buccaneer to ping opponent's for the win. Pretty straightforward and the easiest line of winning for this deck. Entering combat, activate Glint-Horn's activated ability. With each discard, Glint-Horn deals 1 damage to our 3 opponents. Malcolm creates 3 treasures because Glint-Horn is a pirate; before allowing combat to resolve, use 2 of those 3 treasures to activate Glint-Horn as many times as needed to kill the table.

Curiosity and Keen Sense: Provide additional card draw utility and to serve as additional backup wincons with Glint-horn in your end step. With more than 7 cards in hand, you discard down to 7 activating Glint-Horn, dealing damage to each opponent and then draw a card with curiosity or keen sense. Because you're still in your discard step you must then discard down to 7 again thereby reactivating Glint-Horn and dealing more damage to each opponent. Continue this line until the table is dead.

Kiki-Jiki and Corridor Monitor: This is another easy to assemble alternative wincon. With Kiki-Jiki and Cooridor Monitor you can assemble infinite hasty monitors and swing for the win. High density of creature tutors and low mana cost allow this to be an effective outlet that doesn't involve our commanders.

Dual Caster Mage and Twin Flame: I'm not super high on this combo for this deck but it does serve it's purpose and neither is a dead card for the deck with the ability to help assemble other combos. With one other creature in play, cast Twin Flame creating a hasty copy of that creature. Before resolving, flash in Dualcaster Mage to copy Twin Flame targeting Dualcaster Mage. Continue this process until you have enough hasty Dualcaster Mages on board to swing for the win.

Well that's it for now, I appreciate any and all feedback and I'll continue making changes as warranted with continued play testing. Thanks in advance to all who take the time to look at my deck!

Updates

Discontinued: Curiosity/Keen Sense and Niv-Mizzet Parun: Similar wincon to Glint-Horn; with each card drawn, Niv deals one damage to an opponent activating keen sense/curiosity until the table is dead. I've included Magda in this deck as an easy way to put Niv onto the battlefield due to his prohibitive casting cost. Additionally, he can be convoked onto the battlefield with Chord of Calling and Finale of Devastation.

This is a viable wincon and combo but it is hard to get Niv onto the battlefield and if he ends up in your hand he's close to a dead card. Having Magda in the deck doesn't provide much in the way of value with it's low power/toughness so even turning it sideways for treasures feels a bit lacking. Additionally, with Niv difficult to put onto the battlefield, in testing I've found it easier to use the card advantage from keen sense and curiosity to just pivot towards something else instead.
