Do you like attrition warfare??

This is my Torgaar, Famine Incarnate deck, I had built it to be your standard black goodstuff deck originally, but it was just too one note. I wanted to focus the deck on the idea of pestilence, cutting your opponent down to 20 as soon as possible, and then just whittling them down from there. I included a few ways to flicker Torgaar because his effect is an ETB effect, I figured it's advantageous to have the option to either return to 20 life, or cut someone down at instant speed with something like synod sanctum or endless sands. In multiplayer it also makes it a bit easier to knock multiple opponents down to 20 without having to hard cast or sacrifice creatures. Black is a good color to double mana and we got a new budget version of Cabal Coffers in Dominaria so why not include that along with Crypt Ghast and Magus of the Coffers? Exsanguinate, Torment of Hailfire, and Damnable Pact will be happy you did.

There's a decent amount of recursion in this deck. I didn't go super heavy on the sac mechanics, and you'll notice I intentionally left some black sac-related staples out of the deck (I'm looking at you Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, Ashnod's Altar, and Butcher of Malakir). There are still some sac machanics in there, but I have so many sac-related decks already (Just built an Elenda, the Dusk Rose not too long ago that's a blast) that I didn't want that to be the theme of the deck. There's a little bit of lifegain in the deck just to make it more annoying for your opponents, Staff of the Death Magus does a pretty decent job of passive sustain. Want a bit more lifegain? We got Kokusho, the Evening Star, Eternity Vessel, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel for you. You'll notice the deck is fairly budget, I'd like to keep it that way, but if there's any non-staple cards that you think might but fun includes in this deck I'd love to hear them. Moonring Mirror is actually a really sweet card that I included in here, don't like your hand? Tag in your other hand for free at the upkeep.
