How does Tomik, Distinguished Advokist play in EDH?

Tomik, Distinguished Advokist in Commander is best compred to EDH decks such as Isamaru, Hound of Konda and Sram, Senior Edificer in which we want to play our commander for cheap, equip all the equipments on him, and swing for lethal. Compared to Sram and Isamru we're trading card advantage and a cheaper CMC for two important elements. One is flying which is built in evasion that can help at getting damage across the board. The other aspect that makes Tomik an under-the-radar threat is that he gives our lands super-hexproof.

While Isamaru, Hound of Konda and Sram, Senior Edificer decks can be rather straightforward in creating a big beater and dealing lethal commander damage, Tomik, Distinguished Advokist has a Plan B which can give us another way to win. If Tomik is denied dealing combat damage or attacking with him is unfavorable the other plan is to give one of our lands indestructible and to make it a creature. In mono-white this task isn't very difficult to achieve and given Tomik gives our lands super-hexproof it will be incredibly difficult for our opponents to stop the tank n' spank. Thus in this deck you choose whether to swing with flying commander damage or with an un-removeable "man-land."

(P.S. Arcane Lighthouse , Detection Tower , Glaring Spotlight , and other similar effects cannot remove hexproof from our creature-lands, because Tomik, Distinguished Advokist does not explicitly say our lands have hexproof in the first place. Hence I dub it "Super-Hexproof!")

Cards that animate our lands: Blinkmoth Nexus , Forbidding Watchtower , Inkmoth Nexus , Mishra's Factory , Mutavault , Wall of Resurgence , Mishra's Groundbreaker , Genju of the Fields , Sheer Drop , Ondu Rising , Encircling Fissure .

Cards that make our "Man-Lands" indestructible: Consecrate Land , Terra Eternal , Darksteel Garrison , Darksteel Plate , Dolmen Gate . (Special Note: Animating/Awakening Cascading Cataracts or Darksteel Citadel is another way to get an indestructible "Man-Land.")

Cards that search for key cards in our library: Weathered Wayfarer , Expedition Map , Enlightened Tutor , Steelshaper's Gift , Stoneforge Mystic , Open the Armory , Inventors' Fair , Land Tax . ( Open the Armory can tutor for Genju of the Fields or Consecrate Land .)

Cards that protect and recur our lands: Enduring Renewal , Equinox , Sacred Ground , Crucible of Worlds , Petrified Field .

Cards with special interactions in our deck:

Dispatch = Lots of equipment = exile target creature.

Portcullis = Our lands don't enter the battlefield as creatures, so Portcullis will only exile our opponent's creatures.

Enduring Renewal = Our deck only runs 3 creature cards, so we won't ever miss a draw. Instead this card guarantees we get our "man-lands" and Tomik back if they die.

Equinox = If we have a land that's a creature that doesn't have indestructible, and our opponent casts Wrath of God , Equinox can counter Wrath of God , because it would have removed one of our lands, same is true for all creature spot removal if it would remove a "man-land" without indestructible.

Porphyry Nodes = If we have an indestructible "man-land" the Porphyry Nodes won't be able to destroy our creature. If that "man-land" has a lot of power due to multiple equipments attached to it the Porphyry Nodes will remove one of our opponent's creatures every turn.

Sunstone = Run it with Crucible of Worlds and snow basic lands to have the option to Fog every turn.

Ghostfire Blade = Creature-Lands are colorless creatures!

Game Over!
