Emergence Zone is out because it's a little too cute. As powerful as it is to cast Splendid Reclamation or Scapeshift at instant speed, it comes up too infrequently to really make a difference. These are about the only two spells I'm excited to cast at instant speed anyway. I don't think I want to run Vedalken Orrery in this list so having the effect on a land for a one time use just isn't as useful as I thought it would be.

Natural Affinity is out again for the same reason I pulled it the first time. It's fun to get people when they board wipe, but it so rarely lines up that I have it in hand, Titania is on board, and someone casts a board wipe that actually kills lands. So many board wipes hit non-land permanents or exiles. The same could be said about Heroic Intervention and being lucky enough to have it when a board wipe hits, but Intervention doesn't care about the permanent type being destroyed, and it can also be used against single target removal.

Cryptic Caves comes in because I'm always up for card draw. Having 5 lands in play is never a problem and it's a great way to draw into some gas, especially if you have a crucible + exploration effect in play, both of which I'm actively tutoring for.

Return to Nature comes in just because I love the flexibility of this card.
