Tiny Nin (Going Back to Basics)

Tiny Leaders Budget Control UR (Izzet)

Malachorn

The goal here would be mostly to try and maximize Blood Moon/ Magus of the Moon . Normally, red is just really bad in the format, I think, and the trade-off of trying to run Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon in any deck ends up not being worthwhile at all, though they can obviously be very powerful cards that punish A LOT of the decks out there. I think adding the redundancy of Back to Basics combined with the card selection that blue has available to it makes Nin, the Pain Artist quite possibly the only truly viable shell for these cards right now. And it's at least a little adorable that Drift of Phantasms is probably needed for yet a little more redundancy while also being a perfectly adequate card to play simply for the fact that Nin, the Pain Artist can use any creature you have with a big butt to draw you more cards.

Right now, this will be my list for playtesting if I get around to assembling the deck. I think it actually shows a lot of promise and could be a serious contender.

And huge bonus points for the deck being a "budget deck" inasmuch as the Back to Basics type plan suggests a manabase that would be fairly budget-friendly... I do like the one Volcanic Island in the deck for the hands that we'd have where we would have a fair number of cantrips and maybe something like a fetchland - it basically replaces a basic mountain. For budget reasons, if you wanted to make it a Steam Vents then I think that's totally fine and you'd still be playing one of the least expensive Tiny Leaders decks in the room while still piloting a strong deck.

Haven't really slotted cards for a sideboard, but off the top of my head, I assume we'll need some Pyroclasm-type effects and probably even want something like a Razorfin Hunter as a start for the few matchups where cards like Blood Moon are obviously not very strong (such as the Ezuri, Renegade Leader Elves or Thalia, Guardian of Thraben-type matchups).
