Tiamat's Dragons

Standard

DanMcSharp

Hello,

This is a pretty straight forward dragon deck. The idea is to hit any of the cards that can ramp you so you can cast dragons ahead of schedule. Orb of Dragonkind, Prismari Command and Letter of Acceptance all let you cast dragons early, and also work well later to help turn extra mana/land into more dragons one way or another to make sure you can keep casting more threats.

The removal cards of choice to complement Prismari Command are Play with Fire and Dragon's Fire. Play with Fire is really nice as a 1 mana follow-up on turn 3 after you casted Letter of Acceptance or made a treasure.

The ace card in the deck is Tiamat not only because it looks cool, but because it's actually really good and easy to cast with all this ramp and mana fixing. It's easy to think the card looks bad at first glance, but if it said "draw 5 cards" would it look better? It's actually "draw the 5 cards you want", it's insane. From the moment you have access to 7 mana, even just a single Orb of Dragonkind is all the fixing you need to cast it.

I ended up with 64 cards because frankly I couldn't decide what to cut, and having more dragons left in the deck after playing Tiamat is good too.

I've been having a lot of fun and success with this deck, I hope you do too!

Enjoy!
