More Card Draw —June 29, 2019

So I have been playing the deck for a while now and there are so many different ways you can go with just single card adjustments. I finally decided to remove Dark Petition, even though it is a good card, because I was often slowing my own game plan down to stop some of the dedicated combo decks, by doing so it is important to have more card draw to fill my hand with potentially more counter spells or win conditions. For this reason, I replaced Dark Petition for Rhystic Study. This is a card I have been wanted to include in the deck for a long time because it is so good. It has literally never been bad for me, specially in comp. It also lowered the cmc of my deck which is nice as well.

Yep, this is a lot more competitive than mine!

Have you considered Worldgorger Dragon? It might be a bit finicky because there needs to be another creature card in a graveyard, or you need an instant speed way to stop the loop and win. But it's a pretty easy way to make infinite mana since you already run the Animate Dead enchantments. I feel like if you can support kederekt leviathan than you could support WGD. I also feel like it could be easier to pull off than dualcaster mage. Is the appeal of dualcaster mage that it doesn't need to involve your graveyard?

@Metalevolence,

Yeah, haha. It is as competitive as can be.

I have considered Worldgorger Dragon, I know some other people who run it in their competitive lists. The combo is really good, and if I need to add in another win condition, that might be the card I will add in. I'm trying to limit the number of dead cards to almost 0.

Have you thought about Bloodline Necromancer, Viscera Seer, and, Pawn of Ulamog? They are a great Buried Alive pile for an infinite win.

@Lord_Nottingham,

I have thought about diving into some Buried Alive combos, and at one point I was actually running them. However, I feel as though having Viscera Seer and Pawn of Ulamog in my hand, without any of the other combo pieces, to be really bad. The new competitive meta is turning towards combos in which you use the fewest amount of dead cards. The reason I don't include the cards you mentioned is because they are not very good on their own.

This deck is super competitive and after playing against it many times it proves to be very tricky to play against. The combos are all very fast and hard to counter and the deck also runs tons of counter spells which makes it easy to play almost any starting hand

Why are you not running some of the larger reanimation targets like Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, since you are already pretty high cmc for an Ad Nauseam deck, why don't you just go heavier in the reanimation area. This way you can leverage more of your reanimation spells with better targets.

BacterialBean88,

The reason I am not running Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur is really because of the burden it puts on Ad Nauseam and Dark Confidant. Also, there was never a time I would tutor for that card or try and search for it when I could be doing the same thing for Wanderwine Prophets. It is a really good card, no doubt, but I do not think it deserves a spot in this list.

Im not sure if you are aware or I am missing something but I think the dualcaster + ghostly flicker combo goes into infinite mana as well.

Just dont pay the cost for the wizardtoken and continue to flicker the dualcaster (or even naru meha) and a untapped land (its cEDH so you shouldnt run tapped lands anyway).

That way you could cast inalla after making infinite tokens and just drain the enemies out without having to use the combat step.

Or if you also include Illusionist's Stratagem you cant generate infinite tokens/ mana, but can draw your whole deck!
