"Your enemies will pound upon the door of your defenses, but only you shall have the key, and it is the key of life."

-Song of All, Canto 873.

(Sort by type for a more useful analysis)

This is a Serra lore-themed deck with as many (viable) cards that relate to Serra, and which tries to avoid cards that feature/relate to lore from other unrelated characters and planes.

The deckbuilding restrictions are such:

1) The cards must either refer to the planes that Serra visited and lived on, or must avoid referring to being situated in another plane through name, art, creature type and/or flavor text. The following planes are allowed: Dominaria, Serra's Realm, and Ulgrotha.

2) The cards must refer to the themes of angels, healers, protecters, faith, generosity, or divinity. Exceptions are made for removal and artifact spells, but they must still avoid contradicting the flavor (flavor-neutral is preferable). Hopefully, these flavor-neutral cards will not overshadow the rest of the deck in function and power, but instead build towards the themes and help them stand up.

3) If a card is legendary, it must be relevant to Serra's story.

Examples of Flavor Breaks:

-Lightning Greaves doesn't really make sense to equip to flying creatures which have no use for ground speed.

-Archangel of Thune is an angel, but belongs to the area of Thune, an area in the far-off plane of Shandalar.

-Akroma, Angel of Wrath is an angel and belongs in Dominaria, but is unrelated to Serra in the stories.

-Admonition Angel is an angel, but its halo specifically demarks it as belonging to Zendikar in the lore.

-Deathless Angel refers to itself in its flavor text, and the War Diaries once again belong to Zendikar.

-Mimic Vat seems more like an evil wizard's experiment than something Serra and her angels would use.

Will need to flesh out political strategy, and I might perhaps also try to make up a persona for Lyra for role-playing as the commander.
I could try to reason why every card fits/doesn't fit, but that seems like a huge waste of time. Instead, I'll probably fill this in with a recounting of Serra's story from the commander's perspective.
Themes I chose to focus on: Angel tribal, lifelink.

Unfortunately, there was little payoff for lifelink which did not break the flavor I was going for, which meant that going for lifelink synergies was more of an afterthought than the deck's main win condition. My selection of angels was similarly limited, but still satisfactory enough to permit the deck to focus on swinging some angels around.

However, for a deck themed around the gracious Serra and her dutiful angels, I felt that a victory by brute force was both somewhat boring and poorly represented Serra's character. The deck now has more than a few asymmetrical political cards which serve to make allies at the table and to protect others from harm at the cost of reduced angel synergy. Still, in multiplayer games, I think that having an ally or two makes much more of a difference than to make my angels marginally stronger and more threatening.

Oh, and screw Sol Ring. It feels dirty to use and will inevitably draw me unwanted attention, which I am ill-equipped to deal with.

Not sure, guess I'll try running a couple games and see how things turn out.

Hopefully this was of some interest to someone. Comments and suggestions are much appreciated. If you feel inclined to suggest a card, please Ctrl+F to see if I haven't already considered it in the Maybeboard (and if I have previously considered it, I look forward for arguments to reconsider them in my deck).
