Using Thromok the Insatiable's devour X ability, we can get a massive creature on the battlefield very quickly. We support this commander by:

Creature Generation

A lot of cards in this deck create a lot of creatures for Thromak to devour. Notable cards are Genesis Chamber, Emrakul's Hatcher, and Ferocious Pup. This is so far the most common card type in the deck.

Mana Advantage

Cards in this catergory give large amount of ramp so that this deck can have mana advantage. Sol Ring, Rhonas's Monument, and Iron Myr, among others, do this function

Defenders

Defenders tend to be cheap and stay alive, as well as stall until you get your commander out. Think cards like Wall of Mulch, Spear Spewer, and Steel Wall

Card Advantage

These cards either help get you more cards or make your card selection better. These include Insolent Neonate, Skyscanners, and Insolent Neonate Cycling lands also help with this.

combat evasion

Once your giant commander gets into play, it'll need to actually hit your opponent for commander damage. Use cards like Bladed Pinions and Archetype of Aggression to give yourself flying and trample.
