DECK STRATEGY

The deck aims to Evoke Extraplanar Beings from another, stranger dimension to fight for you. To avoid their sudden death due to being dragged into our material universe, we can use Reality Anchors or Anchoring Procedures.

Jokes aside, we want to exploit the Evoke mechanic to play creatures for good value. By casting a "flicker" spell responding to the use of Evoke, we avoid sacrificing of the creature, and even activate its ETB ability twice. We can also prepare an Angelic Renewal to get pretty much the same effect. There are 6 "flicker" spells in the deck, namely Cloudshift and Ephemerate.

Our evoked creatures are:

  • AEthersnipe: a good 4/4 that can be cast on turn 3, has a nice "tempo-removal" effect to it.

  • Mulldrifter: a simple flyer, but gets you to draw 4 cards for its succesful evocation.

  • Soul of Migration: can really populate the board, resulting also in a 6 life gain for each Suture Priest on your field.

OTHER SPELLS

We also want to synergize with ETB effects due to the presence of Cloudshift and Ephemerate in the deck. Therefore, the other creatures are:

  • Faerie Seer: can help you in adjusting the first draws, good turn 1 drop.

  • Suture Priest: gets a good amount of lifegain, due to the fact that all our "evoke" creatures get on the battlefield twice, and can harass the opponent, drawing its attention away from our fighters, AEthersnipes. Plus, the art is nightmare fuel.

  • Auramancer: can get Angelic Renewal back, and synergizes with it becoming a returning blocker. Can also take back Weight of Conscience, our removal, after we activated its exile ability.

The interaction side of the deck is composed of AEthersnipe and Weight of Conscience (its exile ability can easily be triggered having 10 elementals and 8 wizards in the deck, and also Soul of Migration's birbs) for offence, and our "flicker" spells and Angelic Renewal for defence, so it's kind of built into our main strategy.

For card advantage we have obviously Mulldrifter, but also Ponder.

THE SIDEBOARD

work in progress!

We also have some built-in side cards: Suture Priest gets really good vs aggro swarmer decks, and (also thanks to her) we have a good amount of lifegain that can give us an edge against burn decks (Kabira Crossroads and dual lands, can also be re-enabled due to Azorius Chancery)

Maybeboard

  • Reality Acid could be very good in place of Weight of Conscience, also because would be a good answer to Tron decks. I fear that 3 cmc is too much for it in this deck.
