Pure Soldier Tribal with Immard, the Stormcleaver / Guile, Sonic Soldier. Numot, the Devastator
was the original commander. No emphasis on land destruction though. The dragon was there for the colors and if I run out of things to cast. Good tech for Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and Maze of Ith too. The commander was a bit of a red herring. I made Guile, Sonic Soldier/Immard, the Stormcleaver the commander later. He was released well after this deck was originally devised and right before I built it. I took him out of the ninety-nine and made him commander after a bit. Numot's land destruction made people really salty. I could promise up and down that I wasn't going to use it but most people thought I was gunning for their dumbass lands.
This deck was originally just an exercise in making Jeskai Soldiers, but I pulled a pre-release Siege Veteran *f-pre* so I was inspired to make the deck. The new soldiers from Brothers' War seemed fun too.
I'm was trying to keep the non-soldier cards fairly budget. Mostly. That 7th Edition Coat of Arms was in my collection already. I had the Sun Quan, Lord of Wu in my collection too so I had to throw him in. Otherwise the deck is super fair aggro. Mega fair.
It ended up a bit lighter on removal than I'd like and could probably use a few more draw spells.
Too many anthems? Is that possible with Soldiers? So far doesn't seem like it.
Part of me wants to run a +1/+1 counter subtheme and take advantage of all the cards that help with that like Abzan Falconer, Dusk Legion Duelist, Herald of Secret Streams, etc. I could then run Cathars' Crusade, and some proliferate stuff that would also help Immard, the Stormcleaver. Seems like a major overhaul and not really worth the time.
