May the Horrors of the Sunken be ever plunged, no matter where they may lie. For while the Seas may shelter many, they take from many more. And just as the Storms shall never beg forgiveness of the Drowned, our Captain N'ghathrod has no pity for our opponents.

The goal of this deck is to Mill our opponents out, pillaging their Treasures as we go for ourselves. This is done thanks to the deck's abundance of Horror creatures, which mill in addition to damage whenever our Commander is out. Our commander also helps guide our Horrors in their plundering by giving them menace, and of course he takes his share of the loot by taking a card from them and using it against them, like a true pirate.

A couple of cards that stand out to me for this deck, but have not quite made it in.

  • Grim Hireling- This card seems like a great way to benefit more from my creatures dealing damage, which is inherently synergistic with the deck. I also love the flavor of getting actual Treasure from my opponents. But it is not a Horror, which makes it harder to justify.
  • Arvinox, the Mind Flail-Getting more from my opponents is good, and it is also a horror that beats in for 7 if I have taken enough of my opponent's things. I'm just not sure about the cost.
  • Cut Your Losses- Being able to pick any 1 creature or artifact card essentially from the opponent's deck seems good, but they also likely die soon after, so the effect may not be worthwhile. It also costs a lot of mana.
  • Endless Evil- This card starts out in the precon, but as synergistic as it reads getting 1 extra creature every 4 turns at best does not seem good enough, even in an unsupported tribe like horrors. It's a card that seems on the cusp of being good enough, but not.
  • Lorcan, Warlock Collector- Oh how I wish this were a Horror. I would love to pay life to take more creatures...
  • Strionic Resonator- This lets our "steal" trigger happen twice for 2 mana, or if we are desperate enough, the mill trigger could be doubled.
  • Mesmeric Orb- I am not sure this deck wants to mill itself this much, and the mill it gives to opponents, while great, likely will not get taken by our commander. It's 50/50.

As always, I appreciate the read through the list, and any comments are welcome. If this list is worthy, please give it a +1
