The Amazing Art of Rachel Weeks —Jan. 28, 2020
Not sure how many of you are keeping up with my deck pages, but recently I purchased two play mats (each one for two out of three of my favorite commanders) featuring a distinct stained glass art style. I made Update posts about them on their respective deck pages:The Queen's Egg and The Song of Phyresis. It doesn't feel right that Zacama is left out, so I commissioned Rachel to make art for a 3rd playmat featuring the two representative dinos of Ixalan - Zacama and Gishath. It'll be sometime before the art/playmat are ready but I can't wait to see what she comes up with. In case any of you wanted to take a closer look at her stuff, i'll leave a link here. DivineKhaos, thank for the compliment, I love my Dinos. Why Zacama over Gishath ? Beyond the shadow of a doubt Zacama is the stronger Commander - it has built in combo functionality, and the ability to remove Gishath the turn it comes into play with two activations of it's ability. Gishath better serves the deck as one of the 99. However, Gishath is a worthwhile commander option - you just don't have any real flexibility in how you could build the deck. You can only go dino tribal, and the only things to consider are which dinos to include and what kind of draw/ramp/board control are you going to use and that'd be about it. So yeah, Zacama is best dino.

I was curious why you run Zacama as your commander over Gishath? And do you think Gishath is a stronger commander over Zacama if you do not run infinates?
