Sideboard

Inspired by Dech's Pristaxcontrombmodruu. I appreciate all the time and thought he's put into this interesting commander.

I wanted to design an Enduring Ideal Zedruu deck that plays a political staxy/sluggy style while packing explosive and surprising win scenarios. (suggestions welcome.)

The deck contains a few different locks that can be achieved through Enduring Ideal and other means. Dovescape + Humility, Possibility Storm + Arcane Laboratory/Rule of Law, Solemnity + Decree of Silence

The simplest Enduring Ideal wins come from Serenity and Enchanted Evening. After a wipe, we can easily rebuild with Starfield of Nyx. If those cards aren't accessible, we have to get more creative. Locking the board down is usually enough to force concessions though. Winning with enduring ideal has been well-explored by others, and we're going to focus on the politics and defensive play-style that will lead up to resolving the name-sake card.

Zedruu the Greathearted's unique ability invites the use of permanents that affect each player equally. I steered away from mean donations such as Pyromancer's Swath or Steel Golem. I want to be able to deploy my cards without needing zedruu to insure I don't lose. This deck isn't meant to be "loud". The deck is designed to slow the pace of the game, while not becoming a threat.

  5. Sphere of the Suns
  6. Sol Ring
  7. Azorius Signet

Updates Add

I'm finding I want cards that give opponents limited options instead of cards that deny the option all together.

Removed Tectonic Instability for Task Mage Assembly.

Tectonic was giving Zedruu too much heat. Opponents dislike having to tap all their lands. Price of Glory, which provides a very similar restriction, doesn't bring attention to itself in the same way and is the preferred card.
