Maybeboard

Mimeoplasm reanimator/combo deck. This deck is focused on being a psuedo-competitive combo deck, without the tutoring consistency and high end removal options of a CEDH list. In their place, this deck adds some splashier reanimation targets and grindy mid game card advantage engines.

Ways to Win

Putrefax or Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord + Lord of Extinction

Necrotic Ooze with Triskelion + Phyrexian Devourer in your yard

Triskelion + Lord of Extinction if he's big enough

Triskelion + Mikaeus, the Unhallowed

Crazy synergy - Underrealm Lich + Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur or Prime Speaker Zegana will let you see 28-30+ cards consistently, which makes it tempting to run lab man.

  • are often rightly considered to be the best colors in EDH. You have access to the best tutoring effects, ramp spells, and card draw.
  • Doesn't rely on the commander sticking to the board to function, unlike all the other sultai commander options in Muldrotha, the Gravetide , Sidisi, Brood Tyrant , Tasigur, the Golden Fang , Damia, Sage of Stone and Yarok, the Desecrated . This deck can win without ever casting the commander so the opponents don't have a bottle neck they are able to focus on.
  • Gets around many stax effects, including Torpor Orb
  • Win conditions are flexible and widely varied depending on your desired power level and meta.
  • Can run counter spells for interaction on the stack
  • There are a few dead draws
  • Will sometimes struggle to get cards stuck in your hand into the graveyard
  • Doesn't offer a huge board presence to hold off early creature aggression or mid range go-wide strategies
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate

After grinding through the mid-game or supplying your graveyard with the necessary tools, there a few concrete ways to close out a game.

The second partner of the ooze brothers. This is often the first win condition to aim for as it can be found off of a single Buried Alive resolution. This win works by reanimating a Necrotic Ooze while Phyrexian Devourer and Triskelion are in your graveyard. Exile your deck with Phyrexian Devourer 's ability then ping everyone for lethal damage with Triskelion 's ability. Also works with Walking Ballista .

Interestingly this combo counts the total CMC of your library to determine damage, so it is important to know how much CMC is left in your library to calculate if you have lethal. I would suggest knowing the total CMC of your deck, then learning to quickly count the "visible" CMC, ie. count up all the CMC that's not in your library and subtract the from the total. If you hit this combo early, it's never a problem.

This combo makes Buried Alive the best early tutor target in the deck.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed paired with Triskelion creates an infinitely recurring pinger for lethal damage.

Worth note, The Mimeoplasm can reanimate Mikaeus, the Unhallowed but not Triskelion as it will be exiled and not able to be recurred.

If these two are in your graveyard, they can be picked up with a single Victimize .

After grinding though a game, where opponents graveyards have started to fill up as well as your own, this win condidiotn starts to become a viable and explosive way to end a game out of nowhere without the "feel bads" of an infinite combo. Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord paired with a creature over 40 power, will nuke opponents life totals to zero or close to it. Prime targets for Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord in order of effectiveness are Lord of Extinction , Consuming Aberration , Splinterfright and Golgari Grave-Troll , the first two being the primary candidates.

Reanimating a Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon with The Mimeoplasm and 8 available mana will almost always lead to a single dead opponent, and enough left over to regenerate in response to a board wipe or targeted removal. This win is weak in that it has to play out over 3 turns, but is able to be piloted reliably.

Be prepared with the relevant rules.. but The Mimeoplasm does do commander damage. An evasive target with +1/+1 counters from a Lord of Extinction or Consuming Aberration will usually one shot opponents after the game has gone long enough.

If all else fails, or you stick an early Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur , drawing your deck is possible and doesnt take too long to accomplish.
