The Mirran Hero We Deserved

I'm building a thematically colorless build with Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch and am aiming for it to be not too competitively built, and retain a lot of the fun that the Myrs provide. Although this is meant to be colorless, the deck is Five-Color ().

Myrs Just Wanna Have Fun

While the overall aesthetic of my build is to be colorless (), the deck includes a lot of splash colored cards, and honestly very few multi-colored cards.

"What should we do?"

I think its important when tackling a Five Color build (albeit one that tries its best not to rely on colors) that we don't get away from the ability to cast our spells.

most importantly is acknowledge how easily you can make the colors you need. For instance, Mono-White Edh builds could probably cast Avacyn, Angel of Hope with little issue, much to the same chagrin that a Mono-Black build could likely cast Beseech the Queen with few problems.

In the case of a Five Color deck, normally one color is doing the brunt of heavy lifting and mana fixing. I didn't mention Green by name, but...

..anyways, to mitigate your deck's difficulty to cast spells that span the whole wheel, you can simply run less color-required spells. You can see this reflected in my list in that the majority of the spells that require colored costs are limited to mostly two-of colors required, with Their Name is Death being an exception to the rule.

"What is a Color Restrictive Cost?"

essentially this boils down to a core concept of three plus color decks; you have to be able to cast the spells you're holding, and more often than not it is easier to cast mono-colored spells. This isn't a perfect theory, however.

My intention is that by not holding up color-restrictive costs I would inherently have a much easier time casting spells on curve.

If racking up a body count is most important, then I have a few ideas.

  • Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines is lovingly known as the PanharMommycon.

  • Mondrak, Glory Dominus is another token Doubling effect, on a body that can easily become Indestructible.

  • Panharmonicon will help you keep your ETB triggers Doubling up, making a ridiculous amount of Myrs for Urtet to beef up.

  • Anointed Procession is our last stop on the "White can go Wide" train, and simply rehashed what everyone else was doing here.

Obviously a lot of this panel is gonna be dedicated to Green things, but a lot of compounding cards make this a dummy easy approach.
