Performance Update —Oct. 15, 2014

Turns out that the dis-favorable match-up against burn for this deck was completely due to me misplaying my own deck. I used to have an aversion to playing Chalice of the Void with only one charge counter on it. Well, turns out that playing Chalice of the Void with only one charge counter absolutely wrecks burn, and can improve the match-up against aggro as well. Both of these fast deck styles fold without fail if you can get out a chalice with 1 counter and another with 2. The brutality of this play is made even more extreme by the fact that you can still wipe the opponents board with Engineered Explosives through both chalices. Even though this play removes the Auriok Salvagers win condition, making this play so greatly improves the consistency of the deck that my former 35/65 against burn and aggro was changed to a 75/25 favored against burn, and 65/35 favored against most forms of aggro. Enchant aggro still beats me about 30/70 (enchant favored) and infect beats this deck 45/55 (infect favored). Still, this deck is favored in almost every match-up i have tried, excluding T1 legacy aggro decks.

I would agree with taking out at least two of the Tolaria West for basics. I ran into a number of playtests where I wish that was either a black or white mana (once it was already on the field). I did, however, win a game because I was able to tutor for Engineered Explosives with it. So it has its ups and downs like anything else, that's why I say keep at least 1 or 2, but 4 is excessive.
