Abzan or no? —Feb. 20, 2015

Due to the recent pro tour, a deck like this is now on everyone's radar. The only difference is that the pro tour decks splashed black for Siege Rhino and a few Thoughtseize. The real question is if Siege Rhino is worth the splash in the long run? Becaue of the recent bannings, I'm not sure if the Rhino is there due to leftover standard hype and the anticipated pro tour meta that was heavy with burn, or if it really is the real deal. So, should I buy a playset of Rhinos and go Junk? or leave it how it is and perhaps add another few beaters?

I totally think you should main board in Voice of Resurgence for easy burn take down. That pretty much stops Lightning Bolt and Rift Bolt or counters. Also Knight of the Reliquary is SUPERRRR good in modern, so you should main board that also.

BTW, you should probably sideboard Leyline of Lifeforce and Savage Summoning for counter-hate.

With the reprint of the onslaught fetches, Knight of the Reliquary is definately on my radar (already in my maybeboard). Voice is also nice, but not aggressive enough (as I mentioned in a previous post). I don't really worry too much about counters since Loxodon Smiter is uncounterable, and the rest of my deck is redundant enough that them countering a single thing isn't backbreaking for me. Against control decks, I find that a lategame Fleecemane Lion is the nuts as long as I have the land to monstrous him right away. When he's monstrous, he's even better than a Thrun, the Last Troll since he's not weak to Wrath of God or Damnation . I think I might be able to find space somewhere for a Voice or 2 eventually, but for now my meta is more aggro-oriented and I need harder-hitting creatures.

awesome deck, i run a very similar deck and it is a lot of fun.

personally i like Crown of Convergence, it helps in the occasional mirror match, and as a filter in case i didnt like what was coming next. Although a bit slower in some cases, the longer a game went on the more work it did. just a suggestion, lol

but looks great!

@ rshizzle- I do have a Crown of Convergence, but I think in Modern a planeswalker is a better source of card advanage against the controlling matchups. I'd rather run an Ajani, Mentor of Heroes or Elspeth, Knight-Errant since they provide virtual card advantage as well as a wincon. The crown is awesome in commander though!
