Hmm....My creatures in this deck are primarily blockers. I think when Waste Not releases in M15 Barbed Shocker will be more valuable...

I like that it combos with Notion Thief too. It'll definitely go into the Maybe-pile.

Thanks for the suggestion. Anything else you see?

If you like drawing cards Chasm Skulker and Indulgent Tormentor seem pretty good.

I like drawing cards, but this deck wants my opponents to draw lots of cards. That being said, Chasm Skulker would probably be a good replacement for Whirlpool Warrior who I haven't been overly impressed with as of late.

Dude, if you just want to be cruel (which i had to do because of the meta-game in my playgroup), give Nekusar infect :). I threw Glistening Oil , Corrupted Conscience , Phyresis AND Grafted Exoskeleton in just to be sure.

The guys wanted to mix Planechase and EDH yesterday and we ended up on Naar Isle turn 2. So I Demonic Tutor ed for a Bloodchief Ascension and went on to walk very slowly to a win as nobody could Planeswalk away. Memory Jar with an active Bloodchief Ascension out is very painful.

I don't think infect is the direction I want to go with this. It's not particularly social, and I rely on the group hug nature of this to keep me alive at first because I don't run a lot of blockers and removal. This is a problem I've been meaning to address though.

i've always wanted to build a nekusar deck myself, but havent got around to it yet. I like your deck a lot. I made a list of cards I would have had in my deck had I made one, a lot of them you are already using, but some others to consider are Mindcrank for potential mill, Winds of Change simiar to Wheel of Fortune , Dictate of Kruphix similar to Font of Mythos , Dictate of the Twin Gods potentially pack more heat with each draw trigger, Collective Restraint to keep SOME of the hate from targeting you, Fate Unraveler similar to Underworld Dreams , but with a body, Minds Aglow , Vision Skeins , Prosperity , and Skyscribing for card draw for all. The deck i'd build would be more for multiplayer games than for 1v1s so some of these cards you may not want to run like the ones with X casting cost or those that benefit your opponent, but hope you get some help from some of these cards.

There are a few changes I want to make when M15 comes out. Adding Waste Not will be at the top of it. As a result I want to limit cards that shuffle stuff in like Whirlpool Warrior and Winds of Change , and opt for the ones that force discard like Wheel of Fortune and Windfall . Potentially even Whispering Madness but I couldn't say for sure. I don't like four mana sorceries usually, especially since have the functionality of it is kind of redundant.

I like Dictate of Kruphix for more forced draw, and the flash is nice.

I think I want to opt for more boardwipes and spot removal rather than the pillowfort style cards. I do have an appreciation for them though, Propaganda has saved me a few times by being a small deterrent. I'll keep Collective Restraint in mind.

I feel like the body on Fate Unraveler is a downside. There are so many big creatures and so much removal that a 3/4 is irrelevant when it comes to combat. When I kill it with my own sweeper that's a feel bad moment. It's never really done it for me, but the redundancy of effects is nice. I don't think it has enough upside to be worth it.

I like Vision Skeins because it's got a nice affordable mana cost. It may be something I consider if/when I build a 60 card version of this, but I am not a huge fan of 1-shot draw spells. Especially the X spells since this deck doesn't have overwhelming access to mana.

I've been trying to make this more consistent. It feels like I have a hodgepodge of cards that do interesting things, but don't necessarily contribute to my game plan. I'm taking a long look at the following cards; Ivory Tower , Hive Mind (even though it's ridiculous with Wheel effects), Kaervek the Merciless , Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind , Whirlpool Warrior , Vampire Nighthawk and Perplex . I don't like counterspells in general, but I feel like there's some relevance to one that's a tutor. I also don't own any Cryptic Command s...

Since your playing niv have you considered Curiosity , Ophidian Eye , Tandem Lookout , and Mind Over Matter

MOM is outstanding. Keeps your wheels coming and can keep your opponents off of mana/ scary creatures.

The others combo with niv and nekusar doesn't mind having them either. +1Check out my list for more card options. I'm Always looking to improve it, so any advice and +1s are appreciated. Nekusar's Perfect Storm

I like Mind Over Matter . It's one I've had my eye on. I think I saw somebody recommend it the other day to someone else and when I realized how easy it gets to chain wheel effects together I agreed. Definitely a shoe-in.

All those cards your recommended re: Niv are great, but I don't always have Niv. I'm also considering taking him out, I drew him last night and had no interest in playing him. That being said they're fine with Nekusar too but I feel like I spend too much time suiting him up, and not enough time defending myself. I really like the ones I have with Vampiric Link , Elder Mastery , Helm of the Ghastlord and Sigil of Sleep . Sigil of Sleep is especially silly when I'm trying to chain Wheels together.

What do you guys think of Geth, Lord of the Vault ?

I think I like Geth for your version of this deck. I also really like how he might work in my new zombie EDH deck. Take a look at the new abomination Decepticon Zombies.

It feels so good to Reverberate a Wheel of Fortune .

Zebgora says... #14

I would think the only thing better MIGHT be to Reverberate a Traumatize , but that would just be cruel :)

Enter the Infinite works well with Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind or Psychosis Crawler , and could also work well with Laboratory Maniac .

July 17, 2014 7:05 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #16

It also works well with Mind Over Matter and Library of Leng . I could cast my entire library in one turn...

With Hive Mind out that would be ridiculous!

Zebgora says... #17

Enter the Infinite with Hive Mind out is gonna make the guy whose turn it is next very sad....i LOVE it :)

I see the lack of Phyrexian Tyranny and it makes me sad. It's basically a second Nekusar, though it does hurt you as well. But if you're winning the way Nekusar does, then does 2 life matter?

July 19, 2014 2:50 a.m.

Zebgora says... #19

MIrrid, the way this deck seems to work as well as the way my Nekusar deck works, you don't want to help your opponents kill you. It just seems to me that Phyrexian Tyranny is eating up a lot of mana that could be used to create further chaos in a deck like this. I would definitely sideboard it in AGAINST a Nekusar deck tho, especially if i saw they person going for a combo with Notion Thief or something like that :)

Thanks for the comment Mirrid.

I think Zebgora hit the nail on the head, that's also why there's no Spiteful Visions in here either. Theoretically, with Mind Over Matter I could pitch cards to untap mana sources before the ability resolves, but since most of my draw is symmetrical Id find myself losing as much life as they do the majority of the time.

Anti budget+1

It's mostly the mana base and a few key cards that make it expensive. It could easily be built with stuff like Mana Confluence and City of Brass for cheaper. Drop the duals and most/all of the fetches for some more budget friendly options and away you go.

Then you've just got stuff like Mana Crypt and Damnation to replace. Hard to replace those efficiently though. That's the downside to playing UBx I think.

not saying you should add more but why only one tutor?

October 19, 2014 6:01 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #24

Demonic Tutor , Gamble , Lim-Dul's Vault , Vampiric Tutor , Trinket Mage and the transmute on Perplex are all tutors that I run. Combine that with wheel effects and Library of Leng and I can pretty much have any card I want.
