A Commander Deck based on the 2019 film, The Lighthouse, directed by Robert Eggers.

Flavor is paramount here and I tried to use as many black and white cards as I could. There is this idea in the movie that the birds have the spirits of dead sailors, so the deck is loaded with birds and spirits. Some cards are pretty literal interpretations of moments, images, and ideas from the movie. Others were chosen just because the artwork or name matched the vibe.

I see Lighthouse Chronologist as Willem Dafoe's character and Deranged Assistant as Robert Pattinson's character.

Veteran's Voice, Jilt, Inevitable Betrayal, and Murderer's Axe all show the course of their relationship.

Catalog and Mysterious Tome   for Willem's meticulous (and apparently nonsensical per the commentary) note-taking of Robert's activity.

Devious Cover-Up and Grafted Identity speak to Robert's mysterious past and Merfolk Secretkeeper, Wishful Merfolk, and Crush of Tentacles walk us through his romantic foibles in the film.

Glaring Spotlight and Desolate Lighthouse represent the titular lighthouse and Secrets of the Key, Thirst for Discovery, Witness the Future, and Stolen Vitality speak to its pull over the characters.

Gust of Wind is the perfect card to include the movie's gratuitous flatulence.

Vexing Gull is just the perfect bird for this deck and this story.

Keranos, God of Storms is the best commander for this deck, functionally, and speaks to the characters being at the mercy of the sea.
