FNM #1 —April 19, 2013

Took this to Friday's Magic tournament on April 19, 2013 and WON!
Had, I think, 10 players participating in this week's FNM.
FNM Win Count - 13

Had a four-round event tonight and ended up on top. First opponent used a w/u with Geist of Saint Traft, Restoration Angel, Unsummon, and Augur of Bolas. I rushed him in the first game. He bounced the Champion of the Parish a few times, but Blood Artist caught him off with Thatcher Revolt and Mizzium Mortars from the sideboard. We ended 2-1.

Next round, I challenged my girlfriend. She ran w/b/g tokens. She beat me down pretty good and played without error. She brought me down to 1 life and I had a few creatures out to Faith's Shield, using Fateful Hour to swing for 12 and turn the game around. Took my time playing that game. Almost didn't notice Fateful Hour.

Third opponent ran w/r with Legion Loyalist, Boros Reckoner, Aurelia, the Warleader, and Spark Trooper. I DID NOT KNOW Spark Trooper HAD TRAMPLE! He went over for 5 damage. Nearly lost this match-up. He took out my Champion of the Parish and Silverblade Paladin with Pillar of Flames. Again, Blood Artist saw it fit that I take the game. 2-1 on that game.

Last opponent used r/b with creatures with haste. It was pretty low budget and was easily stopped by my creatures with double/first strike. I built my creature count and sac'd them all to Falkenrath Aristocrat to swing for 10 DOUBLE STRIKE. I sideboarded Mizzium Mortars and wiped his creatures out. Took the win by 2-0 and the FNM with a record of 4-0.

Definitely did not expect to win this tournament. I was hoping to rather get a feel for the deck and know what others are playing to threaten the Falkenrath Aristocrat. I'm happy with the outcome and I hope this will more than enough proof the build. Got the Call of the Conclave promo. =]
