I'm now looking to replace Divine Reckoning with Phyrexian Rebirth which would work much better with lifeline in play.

I thought about Dark Prophecy for my Teysa deck but I thought it to be too risky. A question about this deck. Why are you running Ancient Den and Vault of Whispers ? I found maybe one reason in a quick run through of your deck. I feel like that would just be a hindrance as they are easier targets (if someone were to target them). Or if you Merciless Eviction artifacts you lost two lands.

If you're running into mana problems have you considered Liliana of the Dark Realms , Gilded Lotus , Journeyer's Kite , or Black Market ?
Card draw could also help with this. Things such as Skullclamp (great with Grave Pact , Butcher of Malakir , or Martyr's Bond ), Phyrexian Arena , and Necropotence . I see you have some card draw but I think it could be better.

I hope this helps!

I've debated on putting Phyrexian Arena in, and I probably will. I just hate always having to lose life, even if I don't want to. As far as the artifact lands go, I can use them with Trading Post to draw cards if I really need to. Dark Prophecy works well when I'm sacrificing creatures with Teysa's first ability, especially if I end up having Lifeline out, or if I'm doing a board wipe. I had Liliana of the Dark Realms in at one time, and I haven't had an issue with mana so I'll leave her out for now. Most of the time I'm not too worried since I'm looking to drop cards into the graveyard to put into play for only 4 mana. Necropotence would negate any discard use in the deck, so unless I decide to rework that concept it's going to have to stay out.

Thanks for the comments though. Now that I think about it, I'm going to substitute Liliana of the Dark Realms for Knight of the White Orchid .

squadcarxmar, you should know that I played a bunch of games the other day and ended up having to use Merciless Eviction for artifacts, and it really killed my mana base to lose my Sol Ring and Ancient Den at the same time. Looks like the negatives were higher than the positives for artifact lands...

I hate that! Haha. Merciless is good but I hate those situations where you know if you don't screw yourself a little bit you'll be done next turn. Sorry to hear about that and yeah it is one reason I don't run artifact lands unless I have plenty of uses for them.

Well you certainly warned me. I feel like artifact lands are reserved for blue and artifact decks for the most part, so I should have known. On the plus side, I did wipe 5 planeswalkers from the board with Merciless Eviction last time I was playing EDH, so it definitely serves it purpose.

I love Merciless. It's a great multitool in my opinion. And I traded my Keyrune out for Darksteel Ingot . I find indestructible to be more useful than a potential 1 turn 1/4 lifelink. Also I'd run the Orzhov Cluestone or Orzhov Signet over the key rune. The cluestones can turn into a single draw and signets can convert your colorless mana into 2 colored mana.

Only reason I run the keyrune is for the creature need if I only have 2 white creatures out and need a third. Has bailed me out a couple of times. Same reason I run Forbidding Watchtower

Oh yeah, that's why I ran it. I forgot. I just normally get enough now so it doesn't matter haha. Fair enough :P

Seems like your Teysa deck runs a lot more token generation than mine. Makes sense why you wouldn't need it. That's what's so interesting about her as a general. She can be a token deck, a dredge deck, or just simply spot removal. I can only imaging a B/W with tons of tuck, exile, and destruction with her as a general along with a few white token generators.

I love exile. It is my favorite way of dealing with people's threats. Teysa, the Vindictive is my deck if you wanna check it out.

Also +1 you've been interesting to talk to and I like this Teysa deck. :D

Thanks, and I've looked through it. Interesting stuff. This deck had started out with a lot of creature resurrection in it like Reassembling Skeleton and Nether Shadow , but morphed into what it is now.

Oh you think so eh?

"Army of Darkness" is awesome enough that it stands on it's own.

Thanks for the props on the deck though ;P

As much as I enjoy the benefits of Lifeline it may be too damn tricky to keep. Damn oracle text...

I'm thinking of running Cauldron of Souls as a decent replacement for Lifeline . Won't have to mess with all the "at the beginning of the next end step" shenanigans and can target only my creatures rather than everyone's.

You know.. cauldron with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed would be a good idea. Your creatures keep coming back, your opponents.. nope.

The old persist/undying trick eh? Ideas on what to take out for it?

ever think of running Cabal Coffers + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth ? alsoyou should take ashen rider out for mikaeus. definitely ashen rider. Lingering Souls could have some serious use here. so could every other white token maker in the history of magic..Alliance of Arms , Battle Screech , Captain of the Watch , Captain's Call , Cenn's Enlistment , Cloudgoat Ranger , Conqueror's Pledge , Even the Odds , Field of Souls , Geist-Honored Monk , Heliod, God of the Sun , Hero of Bladehold , Increasing Devotion , Knight-Captain of Eos , Mobilization , Seize the Soul , Spectral Procession , Storm Herd , Waylay , White Sun's Zenith

I used to run a bunch of token generators, but I opted for more ETB effects and recursion spells. It ended up not being as useful having to rely on tokens and keeping Teysa in play. Ended up making her more of a target, and more often than not she was getting tucked in my library. Currently I'm looking at the land base and seeing what I want to put in, hence the City of Brass , and Bojuka Bog that are in my maybeboard.

And...you wish I'd take out Ashen Rider . Dream on buddy.

also i double checked the ruling, you can sacrifice her to herself with 2 other white creatures in order to exile something, you just won't get 1/1 ghosts for it.

and BTW Tower of the Magistrate ? really? i'm gonna start running Rest in Peace and Scrabbling Claws MWA HA HA

May 6, 2014 11:24 a.m.

freezerboy says... #25

Yeah well, have fun with that. Looks like you're right about Teysa though, and I also found out that if someone uses a board wipe and you have black creatures out, Teysa's second ability will put 1/1 tokens into play. I think I'll have to confirm this with a judge though...
