Maybeboard

Once upon a time, there was a core set that gave us a great Sorin with some decent vampires for him to pump and a few more in the next block. This allowed me to play Orzhov Vampires in Standard on Arena for a while, and the deck was actually pretty good. All good things come to an end eventually though and with rotation a certainty it was soon time to think about what Historic Brawl could add. This card pool goes right back to Ixalan (a block that supported vampires with a nice 2-CMC lord) and before with good mana fixing and a wide variety of removal spells.

Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord is our commander over any of the legendary vampires simply because he's so strong to have access to all the time, providing reliable recursion and the perfect answer to other aggressive decks with his static ensuring we keep our life total nice and high. This is even more important for us because of our lifegain payoffs such as Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and the many spells which cost us life to cast.
