Field Journal of Expedition 7

Location: The Verdant Maw

Day 1.

The locals call it “The Slaybeast.”

They are incorrect.

The Slaybeast is not a creature.

It is an ecosystem.

I. The First Growth

At first, it appears harmless.

Small shapes move in the underbrush:

Llanowar Elves Elvish Mystic Arbor Elf Boreal Druid

They are not warriors. They are not threats. They are seedlings.

Each one draws vitality from the soil, feeding something unseen. What appears to be a modest presence on the battlefield is, in truth, the beginning of a complex supply chain. The forest is not attacking yet — it is storing energy.

These early growths are not meant to win the game. They are meant to accelerate its end. When joined by figures of greater devotion—

Priest of Titania Selvala, Heart of the Wilds Circle of Dreams Druid

—the seedlings become a chorus.

The jungle begins to hum. And once it hums, the canopy thickens faster than any expedition can prepare for.

II. The Heart of the Forest

On the third day I discovered the shrine.

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx

It hums when the forest grows thick with devotion. Nearby I observed priestly figures:

Priest of Titania Selvala, Heart of the Wilds Circle of Dreams Druid Karametra's Acolyte

When combined with artifacts discovered in ancient ruins—

Umbral Mantle Staff of Domination

—the forest ceases to operate on natural laws. Mana becomes limitless. And once mana is limitless, survival becomes unlikely.

III. The Evolution Engine

There is a ritual here. Creatures are not mourned. They are repurposed.

Through:

Survival of the Fittest Eldritch Evolution Green Sun's Zenith Chord of Calling Natural Order

One life becomes another.

An elf becomes a priest. A priest becomes a titan. A titan becomes annihilation.

This is not random growth. It is selective.

Predatory.

IV. The Land That Multiplies

I witnessed something extraordinary.

Scute Swarm paired with Kodama of the East Tree and the strange lands Guildless Commons Arid Archway

The landfall triggers cascaded into replication. Creatures begat lands. Lands begat creatures.

The board state spiraled beyond containment. The forest was no longer expanding. It was duplicating.

V. The Sabertooth Loop I observed a beast— Temur Sabertooth

When paired with a creature that generates excess mana—

Selvala, Heart of the Wilds or Great Oak Guardian

—the Sabertooth enables repetition.

Enter. Untap. Generate mana. Bounce. Repeat.

The pattern is unmistakable. This is how the jungle achieves infinity.

VI. The End of All Things

Eventually the canopy trembles.

A roar echoes.

It is never just one roar.

Sometimes it is:

Craterhoof Behemoth

Sometimes:

Finale of Devastation

Sometimes:

Tooth and Nail

Occasionally the transformation of:

Ulvenwald Oddity

But the result is always the same.

Creatures gain haste.

Power swells.

Trample becomes inevitable.

There is no blocking the jungle.

Only being overrun by it.

VII. Protection of the Wild

Attempts to destroy the ecosystem are met with resistance:

Heroic Intervention Veil of Summer Autumn's Veil Asceticism

Even removal is answered. The forest does not crumble easily.

VIII. The Commander

At the center of it all:

Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma

She reduces cost. She grants trample. She accelerates the apex.

She is not the combo. She is the momentum.

Final Entry

The Slaybeast does not rush. It accumulates.

Every creature is a warning. Every tutor is a migration. Every land drop is pressure building beneath the soil.

And when the moment arrives— the jungle does not attack. It engulfs.

If this journal is found, know this: The forest is not angry. It is hungry.

And it has already calculated your extinction.
