Maybeboard

The next evolution of my previous deck Omlette du Fromage. I've dropped Atla Palani, Nest Tender and White from the deck. Atla was too easy to shut down and I realized that the deck could be much stronger with Xenagos, God of Revels at the helm. He is both an enabler and a finisher in the command zone and he is rarely removed from the battlefield.

This deck plays similarly to an Atla deck in that it wants to cheat massive, game ending creatures like Worldspine Wurm onto the battlefield. Only now, they will always have haste and be twice the size. I've cut down the rest of the creature package to play only the most impactful few (The Brawly Bunch):

Worldspine Wurm , Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre , and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth all are huge, have great effects, and are persistent threats in this deck. I love pairing these three with Sneak Attack .

Malignus and Atarka, World Render are massive creatures that when pumped by Xenagos remove players from the game

It That Betrays and Dragonlord Atarka are two (very large) creatures I've always had a soft spot for and have great secondary effects

Ulvenwald Hydra also gets huge but can more importantly tutor for Kessig Wolf Run and Skarrg, the Rage Pits .

Tutors like Worldly Tutor , Selvala's Stampede , Defense of the Heart , Reality Scramble , Divergent Transformations , and Evolutionary Leap ensure that we quickly find the few creatures that this deck runs. The latter three tutors are fueled by a small but potent token package. Eye of Ugin + Sneak Attack means that I can always have an attacking Eldrazi titan.

Chandra's Ignition , Berserkers' Onslaught , and Savage Beating provide additional ways to close out the game

The rest of the deck consists mainly of ramp, card draw, and control elements to help cover for the fact that this deck runs so few creatures.

I'll provide a more in-depth write up when I have time. Thanks for taking a look at the deck. Please +1 if you like it.

Updates Add

So I got to play this deck for the first time this past weekend. It was only a 1v1 game against a tuned Breya, Etherium Shaper deck, but this deck performed as well as I could have hoped. The current paper version of this deck is still missing a number of important pieces, but the power of Xenagos and Sneak Attack was in full effect. By T4 I was able to get Xenagos onto the field. T5 I wheeled into Sneak Attack and Worldspine Wurm, and then closed out the game by T6.

I've also made a couple changes to the decklist in response to comments and some playtesting:

In: Drakuseth, Maw of Flames Out: Dragonlord Atarka

Like Dragonlord Atarka, Drakuseth is removal on a stick, but he is more flexible in what he can target. He can also dish out much, much more damage than she can.

In: Altar of Dementia Out: Traverse the Outlands

Traverse the Outlands is an interesting card. I've put it in numerous decks over the years, but always end up removing it. At 5 cmc it lies in an awkward spot on the mana curve. Generally at 5+ cmc I'd rather be playing board impacting spells or creatures. With that said, I do think the card is well placed in traditional Xenagos builds because there are a lot of big creatures. However, this particular build isn't running enough creatures to make a 5 cmc ramp spell that is reliant on big creatures worth it. I've replaced Traverse with Altar of Dementia as it can be used to both protect the limited number of creatures in this deck from exile/steal effects, and it is an alternate win-con.

In: Oath of Druids Out: Reality Scramble

I completely forgot about Oath of Druids. Being able to T3 one of my massive creatures is fantastic. I removed Reality Scramble as it is the worst of my tutor effects.

I am still considering the addition of cards like Through the Breach, Quicksilver Amulet, and Chandra, Flamecaller
