Background

My Reki, the History of Kamigawa deck. I made this deck because there are a number of mono-green legendary creatures that I greatly enjoy. I have always had a few soft spots for the following legends, but never build decks around them for various reasons:

Selvala, Heart of the Wilds: Probably my favorite green commander made in a while. Unfortunatley she is just too strong as a commander and draws a lot of hate. In the 99 however, she becomes much less scary.

Ghalta, Primal Hunger: Just a big, fun, dumb beater

Silvos, Rogue Elemental: Another big dumb beater. I have fond memories of playing this card back when I was a wee lad.

Questing Beast: I love the lore of this character from Arthurian legend and I like how it is designed. Unfortunately, the creature doesn't transfer as well to commander.

Gargos, Vicious Watcher: A really cool card, but I see soooo many Gargos decks. I want to be a unique hipster.

Playing the deck

The deck plays pretty straight forward: Cast Reki and then draw cards off of the 40+ legendary cards in the deck. Finish the game with big beaters like Ghalta, Primal Hunger. Additional legendary pump effects are provided in order to get damage through (i.e. Baru, Fist of Krosa, Akroma's Memorial, Heroes' Podium).

Removal comes in the form of Kogla, the Titan Ape (why this guy did not get a King-Kong card is beyond me), Gargos, Vicious Watcher, the Ulamogs, and Polukranos, World Eater. They are further augmented by some of the traditional green removal spells like Beast Within.

The ramp package is pretty normal. However, I've focused on 2 mana ramp spells over 3 cmc cards like Kodama's Reach. Yes those cards are stronger, but 3 cmc is an important slot in my deck as I almost always want to be casting Reki on T3. Having my ramp at 2 and 4 cmc allows me to cast Reki on time and still ramp early.
