The deck uses the mono white "cedh" shell with only minor variations to get out an Enduring Renewal three card combo, that will clear the table. I know it is old but so was the Millenium Falcon. In a sentence, Enduring Renewal, cast your, usually but not always, 0 cost creature (e.g. Memnite), sac it through Blasting Station et al., and do it again. In this process, your key piece is an enchantment, you are casting a spell, have permanents on the battlefield and using your graveyard and you have your hand revealed and creatures you draw are "put" into your graveyard (Uba Mask gets around this). Now not many other combos can claim all that and still be worthy of consideration!

The best I can get it to go off with protection is turn 4, turn 3 without, both with a god hand. Hit "Playtest" and take it for spin, see how you go. It may not be cedh, but it's the outcome of white being my favourite colour and having played Enduring Renewal since I got it pack fresh in Ice Age, back then, though, it was a Red, Black, White type 1.5 deck.

Why Thalia? Best 2cmc human legendary that births into recruiter and supports a tax strategy.

Tax hard early and stay ahead of the curve, ramp you need at least 2 white and 2-5 colourless depending on taxes, to completely meet mana needs in heavy taxes you need a minimum 13 mana onboard for a full tax one turn kill, not bloody likely. Opportunistically try to assemble the parts for an Enduring Renewal engine, I try to do this in one turn, at least going off the turn ER comes down to avoid some of the draw backs.

It is possible to win on turn one with a, highly unlikely, Christmasland Hand, if you pull something like these cards you may make for a very short game.

Memnite, Altar of Dementia, Enduring Renewal and some way of getting 2W 4C like, Lotus Petal, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Snow-Covered Plains.

- Altar of Dementia/Blasting Station, Memnite the quickest.

a) Walking Ballista with infinite mana, the old chestnut. And it can also be a third target, after Blasting Station and Altar of Dementia hit the yard. Another benefit is getting around a 'yard shuffle trigger, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre is a thing. (Have toyed with Heap Doll for this prospect but it isn't a high enough risk to justify the spot.)

b) Codex Shredder and Leonin Relic-Warder (needs Phyrexian Altar in the Primary Line Combo), cast leonin, etb hits stack, tap codex target opponent in response, sac leonin, dies trigger on stack, resolve in reverse order. Shredder comes back untapped. Do it again.

I have also categorised (custom sort) the deck into "lines", this helps understand how to play the deck.

  • The Primary Line is cards that are part of the combo and getting them is key to win. You play this line from the hand rather than the battlefield, especially Enduring Renewal, even better, leave them in your deck and have Oswald Fiddlebender and Pyre of Heroes cheat them onto the battlefield the turn you are going off. If they are in your hand and there is hand disruption Scroll Rack is your best bet and if they do have to be on the battlefield, there's both protection and recursion to raise resilience to interaction.

  • Secondary Line categories are early strategies that will keep you in the game heading towards victory, I always prioritise Tax early to screen assembly, if these eat interaction, better them than Primary Line (lose less; win more). Fit Ramp and Assemble around casting Tax pieces.

  • Tertiary Lines, draw, shuffle, protection and recursion are opportunistic plays that will support higher lines. Recursion and Protection are both considered tertiary lines because they are not direct contributors to the combo. Protection is debatable as a tertiary line but it's a tool box, priority should be given to context and card selection to meta. Recursion is a contingency line, if a primary line piece ends up in the yard there are tutorable ways to get get it out. If you are stuck durdling in a Tertiary Line for too many turns without any higher lines of play coming to hand, panic.

The "Type" To "Type" conversion categories is an effort to see how convertible the deck is by defining assembly lines that can jump to different types to get the combo, which is Enchantment, Artifact, Creature/Artifact. These are the "tutor for a tutor" lines. There is no way around it, having multiple types to get on board quickly is inefficient. It will conk out without a line of assembly available, being here hellbent is a slow grind to defeat, you will be floating space junk.

Two keystone Conversion cards are Oswald Fiddlebender and Pyre of Heroes both will get you along lines of assembly. They help protect your Combo pieces until you are ready to go. (Shame they are both sorcery speed...) Much of the deck is tuned to these two pieces in an effort the ensure the right piece is not far away. With Ozy and Pyre onboard, sac a one or two cmc artifact to cheat either an altar/station into play, then light the pyre and throw a human on it for cheatin' Academy Rector, destroy 'er through the Altar, getting Enduring Renewal down and you are away. You shouldn't be without a sac creature, having either drawn into one or acquired one by other means.

I have gone with Thalia to ensure Tax is down early, given that there is so little interaction on board, tax is crucial to running screen on the assembly of the combo. If it eats some form of interaction then good.

Thalia also gets Recruiter of the Guard off Pyre of Heroes, who will grab either Oswald Fiddlebender or Memnite on her way to Academy Rector.

- Weathered Wayfarer can tutor for Inventors' Fair.

  • Urza's Saga targets, Expedition Map, Memnite, Codex Shredder, Sol Ring, other mana rocks.

  • You might be wondering what Leonin Relic-Warder does. It was developed before, what I am told, an effort to simplify Magic. The double trigger of both an ETB and Exits the battlefield, means you can sac it as the ETB trigger hits the stack putting the exit trigger on the stack resolving in reverse order. The exit trigger hits nothing, the etb trigger hits the target and exiles it for good. With ER this will act as a targeted bomb. It can also untap targets by letting the summon spell resolve fully, then sac'ing and letting the target come back untapped, again with ER this means infinite untaps etc. (Fiend Hunter has the same double trigger for perma exiling creatures.)

  • If you have a mana altar out and you need mana to go off, sac some of the other creatures or pull a sol land with Weathered Wayfarer.

  • Resurgent Belief, suspend it the turn before you intend to go off, that way it will be returning ER the turn after if someone takes it out, giving you another opportunity to win.

  • Search for Glory searches for a surprising amount of cards in the deck and not just Assemble lines, there are some good legendary lands/creatures/artifacts, Inventors' Fair, Hall of Heliod's Generosity.

I have tried other colours, double white in Enduring Renewal hurts making colour fixing a mess.

The "Other" cards are ones that appear in other high power White lists that may be worth play testing, before you buy the card!!!

There may be others...
