RETIRED

Teysa's Path is one wrought with death, but she can make it fun!

Teysa, Orzhov Scion makes death fun by replacing your guys with spirit tokens. She is already quite inclusive & able to transform zombie tokens into spirits for added value. But the real way to take her powers of reanimation all the way is Darkest Hour. With this enchantment, even the spirits Teysa, Orzhov Scion herself creates will, upon their demise, create another spirit to replace themselves. You have various sacrifice outlets to take advantedge of this like Altar of Dementia, Phyrexian Altar, Viscera Seer (M11) & of course Blasting Station which kills everyone right off. You also have guys like Blood Artist & Zulaport Cutthroat who get tons of value out of scenarios like these playing out while they're on the battle field.

There is a strong human synergy to take advantage of cards like Xathrid Necromancer & Thalia's Lieutenant. There are lots of ways to gain life and then spend it all out on advantage as Teysa is want to do. Have fun slaying for the glory of Orzhova!

 Teysa's Narrative

"The courier had finally found the dictate of his tasking. Teysa had received a letter earlier in the morning from her informant. After weeks of innocuous probing within the Orzhov archives, his search had finally yielded something of value.

Teysa began the preparations for her departure immediately. She closed the tome with her notes enclosed in its heavy exterior and secured the clasp embedded into its leather exterior. With gold coin in hand for the tithe box on her way out, Teysa left Orzhova, the Church of Deals, hopefully for the last time.

Within the Archives of the Orzhov there were many secrets, hidden away by some long dead acolyte of the Church. Waiting to be retrieved in the after-life. But Teysa's studies covered a wide range of subjects. An ancient and alien evil that dominated a different Plane long ago had been an early interest of hers to read of in the archives. But being long banished from those places themselves, they could not supply her the means to power she sought. Teysa had considered trying to contact or confiscate Planeswalkers but had little real desire to interact with them. Beings of enormous power still centered by usually selfish human ego. Not the kind of god she fancied to trifle with. But more interesting than those beings who walked the Planes were ancient artifacts retrieved from long lost worlds. An ancient seat of power from which a warlord dominated a planet, now crumbled into ruin yielded one last secret.

It was a secret the Orzhov were very reluctant to let go of. It was a very old power forged in the utter darkness of Phyrexia, the Darkest Hour would allow Teysa to extend her reanimation powers beyond that of any other necromancer. Its power enabled things she had never dreamed possible. Her greatest feat of apparition was to first raise a zombie from a human corpse, then a spirit from the zombie upon its slaying. The Darkest Hour made each of her spirits reanimate after its demise. Endlessly. Forever. Or be replaced to be more precise but Teysa's eyes were aglow with the possibilities nonetheless.

With this power discovered, she gathered her most important books and notes and left Orzhova. Her departure was inevitable for a myriad of reasons. Escape from her theft and discovery. There were those in the ghost council aware of her intentions, and not everyone appreciated her ambitions. And to fortify her cabal for their last mission. Her small sect of followers, some once loyal to the church, some to their own vices, but they all were now privy to her vision. But her search continued for a device through which to wield her powers of infinite reanimation. If the Phyrexian Altar was a great source of power as she dreamed, her return would be assured. She still had informants in the Church ready to embrace her ascendance to the upper echelons of the Clergy. Only time would tell."
