Theorycraft Deck for Darkshadow327. WIP.

Teysa Karlov - Orzhov Value Build

Protection Effects:

Devoted Caretaker - Hidden tech, for only one mana we give any of our permanents from targeted removal.

Grand Abolisher - Staple protection on our turn, allows us to do shenanigan unimpeded.

Rebuff the Wicked - Protection spell against targeted removal.

Tithe Taker - Slight worse version of abolisher, but great for early games and kinda slows down people activating stuff at the end of our turn.

Mistveil Plains - Protection from certain grave hate.

Consistent Recursion

  1. The fetchlands are not necessary for this type of deck, but it helps thin out. That's the first thing you can do and it will save about $200 off the bat. The other expensive lands like Volrath Stronghold or Cabal Coffers aren't entirely necessary as well but they do help with the mana production. Cutting those two will save also about $70, with all those lands being cut Weathered Wayfarer becomes unnecessary as well. Wayfarer can be swapped to Expedition Map . Phyrexian Tower and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth also recently got reprinted, so I would definitely pick them up before they jump again, but you can cut those as well for basics and a Miren, the Moaning Well if you want another sac outlet in the land slot. With all those cards being cut you will save around $300~ in deck building cost.
  2. Next on the lists is the tutors. They are in here for the consistency for getting your Card Advantage (CA) engines. Orzhov has little to do with CA, so taking these out will slow the deck down. Your replacement for these can be Diabolic Tutor , Mastermind's Acquisition , Beseech the Queen , or Increasing Ambition . Cutting on these can save you around another $70~ in cost.
  3. Now we have the semi expensive cards, Sheoldred, Whispering One , Athreos, God of Passage , as well as Mikaeus, the Unhallowed are all great creatures. They do provide some great recursion effect or value but at the cost of adding in another $45~ to the deck. Some suitable replacement for these slots can be Apprentice Necromancer , Mindblade Render , or even Hell's Caretaker .

After all of those cuts, we pretty much reduced the deck price by more than half. Luckily enough most of the creatures cards in here are cheap and are able to produce the same results just only at a slower rate. Hope that helps any people building Teysa!

If you have any ideas on what could be added or to bounce some thoughts lmk!

Updates Add

Did a couple revisions to refine Teysa a bit more. I might build this deck soon because it definitely seems fun! Also added a little bit extra in the deck description!
