Haha if you really want to bling out your lands, I suggest adding the fetchlands for your colors. More good mana fixing lands are the lorwyn lands, and Reflecting Pool , Forbidden Orchard , City of Brass , etc.

Whoop didn't see the pool already in there. The new Mana Confluence would work well too.

Yeah, was thinking about Mana Confluence and CoB. I haven't got them, and, once I get the money I'm not just going to get the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor filters, but the Unlimited Duals. Again, this is once I get hyper rich and/or get a really, really good job.

yeah, i did look at this lol. it both simultaneously looks like a weirder, yet more try-hard version of what i play with oloro.

elspeth seems overkill-y, and not 100% on sphinx of steel wind. other than than, PARADOX HAZE MAN. YOU NEED PARADOX HAZE FOR OLORO. and then crap like ivory tower, agent of masks, and subversion to further abuse it.

Paradox Haze is in there, along with Ivory Tower.

Subversion and Agent of Masks are hilarious...I like.As for Sphinx of the Steel Wind, it's been amazing in practice. The one deck that butchers this deck is mono red aggro, with Stranglehold, Blood Moon, Stigma Lasher, etc., and having Sphinx to easily block this and haze Erich's Thromak and Ulasht decks really helps. That being said, please don't play Urabrask versus this. That's just mean.

April 25, 2014 1:26 a.m.

urabrask versus a lot of stuff is mean lol, but it's only like that against decks that are greedy: ie erich put more basics in walkers because of that.

and whoops, my bad on missing haze already being there, my list is up too if you wanna look at it.

Sol Ring is OP.

+1.

T1 Sol Ring into Top and Ivory Tower. It's happened before. Also that game? Turn 2 Counterbalance, Turn 3 Necropotence.

Let's just say I won and keep it at that, kay?

A deck about tax and you don't have Land Tax ? :)

I don't have enough basic lands. I tried to make it work, but....

Felidar Sovereign and Serra Ascendant are both broken in this format. I do like the inclusion of Rout , however. As far as wrath effects go, it's instant speed makes it prime in a deck like this. I'd substitute Planar Cleansing for In Garruk's Wake . Also, Imposing Sovereign would help disrupt hasty decks and make sure that your life total stays where it should be.

JA14732 says... #12

I have an In Garruk's Wake, but Planar Cleansing is just too damn funny if I have Avacyn/Elspeth Emblem, since I get to keep all my permanents, but my opponents are reset to the stone age.

Imposing Sovereign is okay, but too easily removed, would rather have Kismet /Frozen AEther , and sadly I might remove Rout for Fated Retribution , which is technically superior due to its ability to hit 'walkers at the same time, for the same cost.

However, I do like everyone's suggestions so far. Thank you for looking and commenting!

I didn't know about Kismet and the Aether slipped my mind. Those are better in most cases, yes. What about Ajani Steadfast ? His +1 will help you get life and his -2 will get Elspeth more loyalty, plus beef up your creatures. The emblem he gives can also be majorly irritating if you're building around lifegain.

August 11, 2014 4:57 a.m.

JA14732 says... #14

I've been thinking about Steadfast for some time now, I just don't know if I have the planeswalker/creature count to make him work at his best. But, optimally, I can get his emblem out and just halt burn, aggro and slow down Infect and decks that focus on their Commander (Hi Prossh, Skyraider of Kher !). However, I could also run Forcefield , which, so long as I keep mana open, shuts down a large number of decks, or even Energy Field , but that stops counterspells, which is something that I for one do NOT want to do.

August 11, 2014 10:29 a.m.

Jaxis says... #15

The Ajani emblem, if you can get it off, seems like your best bet. Energy Field is destroyed once someone casts Innocent Blood or triggers Grave Pact . Forcefield is better but you need mana to make it effective and it can still be Disenchant ed. Unless I'm mistaken, Emblems are permanent effects.

August 11, 2014 12:13 p.m.

JA14732 says... #16

Emblems are not permanents, they're basically enchantment effects that can't be destroyed. I think that, if the emblem's effects are not passive, like Dack Fayden 's emblem, they can still be Stifle d or Trickbind 'd, but I'm not 100% sure about that..

The only problem with the Ajani emblem is the fact that there is an "if." It takes 3 turns to pump him to max, 3 turns of protecting him. I don't care about Goldmane's ultimate, I just want more lifegain, and Elspeth dies within 2 turns in my playcircle anyways. I'll give him a try once I get him.

Food for thought... I have never come across the situation you're referring to, so help me out on this.

113.4. Abilities of emblems function in the command zone.

Since you play Oloro you may know. Can his command zone upkeep ability be countered with the cards you mentioned? They also only function in the command zone. If you can counter Oloro's ability then you could also counter an emblem's ability. _

Sorry for the lack of suggestions. Try Undermine ?

August 11, 2014 4:10 p.m.

JA14732 says... #18

Yes. The ability goes on the stack, so you can waste a Stifle on Oloro's trigger, if you so choose. I wouldn't recommend it, however, unless you're about to win. Using that fact, we can assume that you can stifle Kiora, the Crashing Wave 's emblem or Dack Fayden 's emblem.

Undermine's cool, it just lacks a sort of pizzaz that is found in 60 card. Losing 3 life in a commander match doesn't really warrant a restricted-cost counterspell for 3.

August 11, 2014 4:57 p.m.

I read on your forum post that you dropped Felidar Sovereign solely because he dies to removal instantly. Isn't that what you want? Something so scary that your opponent has to deal with it immediately? Also, if they don't happen to have a removal THAT TURN, that should be game for you my friend! You could drop in Swiftfoot Boots for some protection or just hang on to one of those numerous counters you have. Just a thought.

JA14732 says... #20

I'm considering dropping Felidar. I've had him in the deck for 9 months now and never once had his win the game effect go off, and that's why I'm considering dropping him. Currently, he's just a card that takes up a slot that could be used, and, since I'm currently not running creature protection (result of not running creatures), it's too easy for him to die.

Gidgetimer says... #21

If you want to drop Felidar Sovereign but like the idea of an instant win off of life total there is always Test of Endurance that I notice you aren't running.

November 19, 2014 4:53 p.m.

JA14732 says... #22

That's one of the 10 or so cards I was thinking of adding, but the problem is that I couldn't narrow it down to just 3. I'll give you the 10 cards:

Rhystic Study, No Mercy, Test of Endurance, Detention Sphere, Propaganda, Frozen AEther/Kismet.

Akroma's Vengeance, Killing Wave, Final Judgement , Vampiric Tutor, Spelljack.

Lightning Greaves.

JA14732 says... #23

So let me get this straight, when I put 12 cards that I'd like to add but can't narrow down, no one wants to help me? But when I comment that I want to take an underperforming card out of my deck everyone rips into me for removing what is, in a vacuum, an amazing card. PLEASE HELP ME cut that stack to 3. Thank you.

November 19, 2014 9:55 p.m.

test of endurance, propaganda, and either greaves, vamp tutor, or rhystic study. hey at least i narrowed it to 6 lol.

November 19, 2014 10:17 p.m.

JA14732 says... #25

Well that's a start. Hm. I don't know how much I need greaves, despite how good of a card it is, V Tutor is amazing and I do like study...maybe I could cut another card for these ones. And honestly, Archangel of Thune is first on the chopping block. She's a blowout, but slow and I don't run enough creatures to make her effect a gg. I think I'll do that, thanks!
