Maybeboard

Welcome to my Tatyova deck.

This is my baby, my first EDH deck built in paper, I brewed it up around 12 months ago, when I first discovered this format. It start out as a simple, play lands, get land fall triggers, draw some cards and have some fun. Over the last 12 months, it has grown with me, as I have got better at brewing EDH decks. I have recently done a major update to it and I hope it will kick more ass than it did before!

Why play Tatyova

What ever happens with Tatyova, you’ll have fun, this deck never gets mana screwed and never top decks. You get to play all your threats, keep drawing cards and having fun. It’s a fast build with not much durdleing.

Drawbacks

I’ve found that this deck draws a lot of hate, due to how explosive it can be. Which does get a bit annoying. Some turns can also take a very long time due to searching for basics 4-5 times.

How this deck works

This deck is built around having multiple lands etb in one turn. Playing a land is something you want to do every turn in any format, it’s the spine of this game, and I learned very quickly, the quicker you get more lands out, the stronger position you are in. Tatyova, Benthic Druid attaches rapid card draw to the ramp that has access to. The life gain isn’t crucial, but with this commander in play she keeps you high on all resources; Cards, Life, Lands.
In an ideal world we’re casting Tatyova on T3 but I have managed to cast her on 2 several time’s before.

Turn 1 plays. - Sol Ring - Exploration - Burgeoning

These are the main 3 cards we want for T1, hopefully you will have 1 in your opening hand, with any on the following in hand we then have a plethora of option to get up to 4 mana by T2 and then 5 mana for Tatyova on T3.

We want 5 mana at the beginning of T3, all of the above should get us there, which allows us to cast Tatyova and then play a land to draw, she does being quick removal so be prepared to have to cast her again later, or hold up some counterspells, like Force of Negation or Thwart that we can cast for essentially 0 mana.

Once she’s out we want to start dropping 2-3 lands per turn, drawing us into our heavy hitters.

  • Crucible of Worlds + Dreamscape Artist is a very powerful combo. & sacrifice a tapped land, put two basics into play and draw 2 then play your land from the yard for turn and draw again, we’ve just paid 3 mana to draw 3 cards and then ended up with 3 untapped lands, so draw 3, pretty nuts.

  • sylvan sakekeeper + crucible of worlds allows us to protect our commander, whilst netting a free draw at the same time, these combos paired with an Exploration effect will let you dig very deep each turn.

  • Crop Rotation + Isochron Scepter is a sold land drop per turn, added to a crucible effect and its 2 lands per turn.

All of these were designed to simply recycle lands from play to the yard and back whilst fetching other lands in the process. It’s very easy this way to get 3 lands out of our deck each turn.

We’ve established our engines, now we need to make them win, it’s all well and good drawing cards but with out any threats we’re just essentially doing nothing. All of the cards in the Landfall category act as solid threats on the board, we can go wide&large with a token board state, - Rampaging Baloths - Zendikar's Roil - Field of the Dead - Avenger of Zendikar Are our main avenues to win by punching through for lethal, Avenger of Zendikar + Finale of Devastation is a game winner, creating a minimum of 10 hastey 10/11’s to send equally at our opponents.
Like any simic deck worth it’s salt, we’re also going to try and control the board. Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur is a great card to flash in before your turn, if he can survive one round of the table it could spell game over, he can be protected with Sylvan Safekeeper and even if we only get 1 end step with him it’s a huge amount of card draw, paired with a no maximum hand size outlet and we can essentially do what ever we want.

Roil Elemental is another very powerful threat, as this is a may trigger, we can use it very politically, send something at me, well I’ll just get a land into play at instant speed and take the creature off you. I do not use Roil Elemental needlessly.

There’s a few other control options, narset, partner of veils is a solid Walker, along with Edric, Spymaster of Trest & Seedborn Muse

We can also control peoples acces to mana with Strip Mine effects paired with Crucible of Worlds

The rest of this section s just counter spells to protect ourselves.

I’m also running a few infinite combos that work around Oboro, Palace in the Clouds + Retreat to Coralhelm & Sakura-Tribe Scout for example, it’s pretty self explanatory, it’s just infinite land drops, but paired with the deck list that means we can create an army of tokens, draw our deck and gain a bunch full of life.
If we can’t win through combat damage alone, we are also running Laboratory Maniac as an alt win to go off with the infinite combo above, along with Aetherflux Reservoir to Lazer beam everybody to death.

If you like the deck feel free to leave a +1 and if you have any suggestions then don’t hesitate to comment.
