Maybeboard

A deck that has been in the making since 2017, when I was first introduced to EDH through a friend that guided me to our LGS where I bought the "Forged in Stone" precon, after much deliberation I might add! However, when I sleeved it up and won my first game with the deck that day, my passion for white and equipment began to burn bright! I have forged mighty weapons that have righteously been used in felling many a vicious monster plaguing the battlefield over these many long years! Often I have come up short, but that has only strengthened my resolve to get back to the forge, mend my broken arms and armor, and suit back up and try it once again! The battle never ends my friends! The deck has dipped into every one of the five colors in magic throughout its life but, has always had the main theme (of white & equipment) intact. Currently, and I think this is where it will live for a long while, is in the color pairing of Red & White, flying the banners of the Boros Legion!

This deck is a toolbox, molded around cards that will help us find the answers to the many ferocious problems one might face on the battlefield. Sunforger is one of key pieces to our success within this strategy, as it allows us to find the removal we need at any given point of the game and the land Mistveil Plains allows us to continue reusing those assets to our continued advantage. Next are cards with similar purpose but for the equipment side of things, they are Armored Skyhunter and Stonehewer Giant who allow us to shift through the deck and find specific answers to the problems assailing us. If Sunforger is for our removal, then these two valiant heroes help us with our arsenal of gleaming, sharp, and deadly weapons and armor of incredible strength! As a supplement to all of this I have added a cadre of tutors to help squire us into the pieces we need more consistently.

I have chosen Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist for sentimental reasons (I studied Anthropology in college, and Archaeology is a subset of that broader field and something that I am quite passionate about) as well as for reasons of strength, as I feel like removing the equip costs of equipment takes away their innate weakness (having to sink extra mana into equipping them to a creature when I could be spending that elsewhere)! Additionally, Ardenn has partner which allows for vast combinations and differing play styles (if I wanted to switch it up). Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder *f-etch* is currently Ardenn's loyal companion, he allows us to pack a punch in our swings, to recuperate from our wounds, and even overcome the onslaught that inevitably arrives once we have obliterated one of our opponents with a key-worded & souped up, protection from "this" & "that", 21+ commander damage strike of meteoric proportions!

Disclaimer: This deck has (at least three) infinite combos within the deck. If that is not your thing, you are welcome to remove them, but my playgroup and I personally do not have any qualms over it, and "white & equipment" need all the help they can get, I say!

Explaining some of the combos in the deck (all based around the combat phase): The first involves Aggravated Assault on the battlefield with five or more lands (two red sources) in play and any creature equipped with Sword of Feast and Famine this will theoretically (with some kind of board-wide evasion on the creature side) allow us to go to combat an infinite amount of times and deal an infinite amount of damage by feeding the untapped lands from the sword back into the enchantment, rinse and repeat until your enemies have been utterly demolished!

The second involves Aurelia, the Warleader and another creature equipped with Sword of Hearth and Home (once again required is the board-wide evasion of both of these creatures), we go to combat, Aurelia on attack gives us another combat phase after this initial attack, once damage connects we use the sword to blink Aurelia and get a basic land, because of the leaving and entering this Aurelia (technically the same one) is recognized as a new iteration and will allow us to once again get her trigger of an additional combat phase, rinse and repeat until your enemies have been vanquished!

Finally our third combination involves Godo, Bandit Warlord equipped with Helm of the Host. We go to combat and at the beginning of this phase we create a non-legendary copy of Godo with haste, the token Godo enters allowing us to tutor another equipment to the battlefield, we go to attacks with this token copy of Godo ideally equipped with the new equipment (from Ardenn, we can layer the triggers so this happens every time), the Godo copy triggers on attack giving us another combat phase after this initial one, rinse and repeat until the entire might of our deck (all of our equipment) is displayed on the battlefield and our foes lie slain at our feet!

The power level of this deck is (potentially) higher than your average game of Commander. Due to the tutors and infinite combos contained within and how consistent and threatening this deck ends up being on a regular basis. It is however, in no way a contender at a cEDH table. But numbers, specifically a scale of 1-10 are arbitrary and subjective and I will leave it at that.

One last note of import, while most equipment decks are voltron (all of your equipment onto one creature and swing away) this deck by design has the ability to pivot away from a singular brutish warrior into an army of battle hardened knights of valor. As such, the crude and basic bashing of sticks and flailing of arms becomes obsolete and we become more illuminated with a "go-wide" strategy led by the Heavenly Blademaster follow her light, listen to her teachings, and she will not lead you astray!

Appreciate everyone who took the time to read, I hope your forge is forever aflame, your thirst for knowledge unending, and your vision forever illuminated upon the one true path (white & equipment) bwahahahahaha! Take care out there!
