Sideboard

Customized version of the Call the Spirits deck, with a focus life gain and extort effects. If an opponent wants to do anything to me, they're going to have to pay some taxes.

The idea is to pillow fort/life gain/tax until a win condition is hit. So the deck mostly want to play things like Soul Warden , Ghostly Prison , and Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant early on in the game so that you're difficult to kill/attack, then just build up spirits while watching everyone else do stuff. Daxos isn't the only win con in the deck, but he's the most readily available one. Even though it's not absolutely necessary we'd like him to stick around, so there's a fair amount of graveyard recursion and indestructibility to help keep him on the battlefield. At the very least, we'll make our opponents spend good resources on Daxos while our other, more subtle threats lurk in the shadows.

Win cons are:

  1. Build up big enough spirits that we can simply crush our opponents with them while hiding behind our pillow fort. Intangible Virtue + True Conviction make a disgusting set of buffs for our spirits.
  2. Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond for a good ol' combo kill.
  3. Oops I wiped the board with Extinguish All Hope . Our spirits are still alive though, so it's time to swing in for the kill.
  4. Surprise direct damage with Exsanguinate or Death Grasp using all the spare mana from Black Market .
  5. If all else fails, extort extort extort using various cards to slowly drain out our opponents. Blind Obedience is a solid and subtle start, no one realizes just how much of a difference this simple card can make in life totals, and it's important not to draw too much ire for the diplomacy game, but it probably won't close out the late game. For the mid game, we have cards like Kambal, Consul of Allocation , Polluted Bonds , etc. But the real stars of extort in the end game are Bloodchief Ascension , and Pontiff of Blight .
  6. Lastly, we can make our opponents just stop playing magic by hitting them with Overwhelming Splendor .

A few notes.
I don't want to use alternative win conditions like Felidar Sovereign simply because I don't find that a fun way to win.
I also shy away from tutors because they make Commander games too samey, and they feel especially lame in this multiplayer geared deck, but I suppose a couple wouldn't kill me.
The sideboard includes cards that I feel are only necessary for matchups against certain decks in my group's meta which I sideboard in from time to time. Currently only have anti tokens and anti graveyard stuff. I'm definitely open to suggestions for good, on flavor, niche hate cards to side in!
There are a handful of cards I'm considering adding to the deck, some are simply too expensive right now, some are just odd includes that I'm not positive work for the deck at all, and the rest are ones I want to get and eventually try in the deck. I would especially love your input on the "Unsure" section!

Aurification , Koskun Falls , Windborn Muse . I think all of these are great pillowfort additions that I'm sure I could find room for, I just need to get my hands on these first.
Authority of the Consuls , Blood Artist , Zulaport Cutthroat , Suture Priest . I think these could replace the Soul Sisters as probably better upgrades, but I'm not sure I can fit all of them in so I might need to just pick 2 or 3.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Painful Quandary . Incredible drain/sap effects, seem like great fits for the deck.
Journey to Nowhere , Stasis Snare . Enchantment type removal. Good enough to replace Dec in Stone and Anguished Unmaking? Not positive, but worth a shot.
Field of Ruin . More land based land hate. What's not to love?
Luminarch Ascension , Rest in Peace . Since these have dropped in price, I think I should grab them as they seem like stellar additions.
