Sorcery (1)

Creature (1)

After playing Feather I have a few suggestions for anyone that wants to build this style deck.

  1. Mana ramp is your best friend. This deck requires a lot of mana to cast a lot of spells. Don't try to build this deck with 33 lands and 8 mana rocks just because Feather is low CMC. This deck's ability to draw cards is dependent on you consistently casting a lot of spells. The more you cast, the more you draw - but you need a lot of mana. For ramp I'm running 8 mana rocks; 2 creature ramp; 1 enchantment ramp; 1 spell ramp; and 2 ramp lands. I'm also running 35 total lands in the deck with three of them being dual faced cards for flexibility.

  2. This deck HATES colorless mana. A large majority of your spells have single (R) or single (W) casting costs and running too many utilities will also stall you. I'm running a total of only 5 colorless lands, two of which get sacrificed to fetch me basic lands.

  3. This will depend on your group meta. Even after cramming in 40 spells that pump, card draw, and protection, you still have enough room to add a secondary strategy. Most often you'll either focus on burn or tokens as a secondary strategy. I chose tokens in order to deal with sacrifice decks by being able to generate sacrifice fodder. Every now and then you'll be able to amass a huge token army, pump them all, and swing to kill the board on a single combat step.

It's a really fun deck to play, you're always doing something, and once you have a protection spell in hand, it becomes hard for your opponents to remove Feather.

Lastly, I know this deck seems expensive, and that's because I'm choosing to run pricer pieces like Smothering Tithe, Veilstone Amulet, and so on. The truth is I run them because I own them, but the deck loses nothing by opting for budget options.

Here are the changes I would make if I were on a budget:

Smothering Tithe - Swap in Chandra, Torch of Defiance or Keeper of the Accord.

Veilstone Amulet - Swap in Valorous Stance.

Combat Celebrant - Swap in Tibalt's Trickery.
