Voltron Rayami

In my opinion, Hexproof and Indestructible on Rayami is very important. Once both abilities come online, he can be very difficult to answer except forced sacrifice or mass exile. Cards that stop force sacrifice are rather limited such as Tajuru Preserver , Tamiyo, Collector of Tales and Assault Suit .

This is how I'll rank all relevant abilities:

  1. Hexproof:
    A voltron creature without hexproof feels naked and yes, there are a few cards out there that cause permanents to lose it. Well, I'll bite the bullet. I also don't include 1/1 vanilla creature with hexproof.
  2. Indestructible
    I think this is the second most important ability for a voltron creature. Board wipe can be common in EDH but it tends to happen when the board gets crowded, less likely when only Rayami is on board.
  3. Flying, first strike, deathtouch, haste, lifelink, menace, trample, reach
    These abilities are good, and are widely available across this colour. Though haste can be slightly rare.
  4. Vigilance
    This ability isn't all that rare in Sultai, but efficient creature cards with this ability is rather limited. Ramunap Hydra is such a fine inclusion I'm still looking for. End-Raze Forerunners is costly and more effective if you're running token build.
  5. Double strike: Sadly this is out of luck. Not in Sultai up until today.

Equipment:

  1. Blackblade Reforged is obviously for Rayami.
  2. Conqueror's Flail makes Rayami a partially Grand Abolisher and give +3/+3.
  3. Hammer of Nazahn gives INDESTRUCTIBLE and +2/+0 while making equip cost free during ETB.
  4. Worldslayer is one hell of a card your opponent hates while it works best with Indestructible commander. Once Rayami gains Indestructible and equipped, he basically locks down the board.

Ramp is not something I'm familiar with. I got some, see how they work. I do find Circuitous Route works very well with my not-so-efficient land-base as I've just moved into Sultai. It tutors out two gates (I got all 4 in my deck) and put them onto battlefield, which fixes the problem with colour requirement, way better than Explosive Vegetation .
