That's a great suggestion. Thanks, I'll definitely incorporate it into my deck.

Ball Lightning and Spark Trooper would be great for this deck. Elemental Appeal might be great late game. Akroma, Angel of Fury would also be pretty sweet in this deck.

Also, it's hard to pass up the Boros Charm if you're playing those colors. It's a great protection against sweepers.

Fatal Frenzy is also great since you can just fling the target at end of turn. You're lacking good card draw. But then again, you are white and red, those aren't the colors for good card draw typically. Look at Reforge the Soul and Wheel of Fortune if you can get your hands on them.

I'd swap out Ring of Valkas with Swiftfoot Boots . Same hasty advantage, but with more hexproof.

If you already have kiki-jiki I'd put in Zealous Conscripts for infinite haste tokens.

apt142, I'll definitely use Swiftfoot Boots . Though I do not have a real need for card draw, really all I need in the search aspect which I have, as you said red and white don't give themselves for draw, so I have decided it would be too costly to include as a primary aspect in my deck.

I like the idea of Spark Trooper , though I don't know if the other creatures and cards have a real place in the deck.

Rofelos, Zealous Conscripts is a good suggestion, I'll have to look at the rest of my cards and see which one would be best to take out and place that in, but infinite loops can always be fun!

Just remember that Brion Stoutarm doesn't deal commander damage with his effect anymore.

Paying 4 into Nim Deathmantle will allow you to keep some of those bombs like Serra Avatar to be sacrificed again later.

Thornbite Staff equipped to Brion will untap him every time you use his ability.

vampirelazarus, yeah, I realized that when I chose him, it's why I have cards that double damage output like Gisela.

Kirtanian, Those are great suggestions, I was looking at taking Sphere of Safety out, but I hadn't found a suitable replacement for it yet. I'll see how to incorporate it into the deck.

Thanks

@ vampirelazarus i don't believe he ever did do commander damage with his ability as it is not combat damage and the EDH rules have always required combat damage for general damage since I've played the format.

Also, I suggest using Grafted Exoskeleton , Brion with infect is awesome! =P

May 8, 2013 5:05 a.m.

As long as I've played, they have also needed to combat damage, but several people I know claim otherwise, so I just want to clear misconceptions....

Like a vigilante!

I shall henceforth be known as..... Batman!!!!

Eenix, Grafted Exoskeleton is a great suggestion, it would create it's own commander damage in effect, but also get over certain aspects such as indestructible. Great suggestion, I don't which card to to replace with it. But thanks.

Sincerely,

I really liked your Commander deck! My +1 has gone!
And some suggestions: Loxodon Warhammer and Vorrac Battlehorns gives you easier breakthrouh the enemy lines. Skullclamp and the Infiltration Lens helps you to draw some cards. I may be use a Marshal's Anthem if I were you. :)

bhayes8 says... #14

Finarfin84, I understand the point of the cards like Loxodon Warhammer , but my real goal is not so much direct combat, while that is an element that can be used, I certainly am not planning on it, if you know what I mean, but Skullclamp probably would be a good card, also Marshal's Anthem is a great suggestion, it will probably hit a sideboard status right now, but maybe end up in the deck, I would have to see if there are any cards that I think are less valuable to the deck currently in place.

Thanks for the suggestions,

Emeria, The Sky Ruin and Celestial Dawn might be something to consider. Emeria would be awesome synergy with your general, but you're a little low on Plains, since Emeria needs 7 to activate. Celestial Dawn might be an answer for that.

mosaicub, I thought about adding Emeria, The Sky Ruin once, and even had it in the deck initially, but as I thought about it more, it just didn't fit the overall theme of the deck, now something that would allow me to use the plains mechanic as a direct damage more would fit, but overall I don't think it would do well with the rest of the deck. It just stands alone more than it meshes in.

What about the new Gift of Immortality ? Also, you could use some cards like Act of Treason . I wouldn't use a bunch of them, but having one or two for some removal is good. It can even deal with indestructible creatures since you can sacrifice them to Brion.

apt142 says... #18

What about Conquering Manticore ? Seems like the next best thing to flinging a 5/5 is flinging somebody else's 5/5.

I also notice a lot of firebreathing and haste in this deck. Have you thought about Dragon Breath ?

October 9, 2013 6:52 p.m.

bhayes8 says... #19

Kirtanian, I've thought about Gift of Immortality , but it is limited to only being used on one creature, which could be a problem, any thoughts on how to use it better?

And as far as cards like Act of Treason , I initially had 3 or 4 in the deck, but then I broke them down to only Zealous Conscripts , which I used to win a game about three weeks ago. But the only thing I'm trying to find is something like that that is more sustainable, maybe a card with flashback or an artifact that I can use with a mana/tap activation for a turn, are you aware of any cards along those lines?

October 9, 2013 7:05 p.m.

bhayes8 says... #20

apt142, as far as Conquering Manticore goes, I have Zealous Conscripts in here for that, though as I was saying in another comment, I'm looking for something take control effect that I can use more than once, any ideas?

Haste is not so much a theme, though I do have a large area effect from Hammer of Purphoros for that, and then Captive Flame gives the fire breathing/pump effect to boost a creature. Though if I need another effect like that, especially one that I can bring back, Dragon Breath is a great suggestion, and will definitely make the side board.

Thanks.

How about Adarkar Valkyrie ? It kind of accomplishes what you are talking about. Lets you sacrifice the creature and regain the ETB effect. Something like Nim Deathmantle could be worthwhile also since it gives a P/T buff as well.

October 10, 2013 11:42 p.m.

bhayes8 says... #22

Kirtanian, I actually already have Nim Deathmantle included in the deck. And I use Reya Dawnbringer for most of my recursion effects as well as a couple shuffle graveyards into library cards like Archangel's Light .

but thanks for the suggestions.

infinitemana says... #23

The best repeated traitor effect I can think of is Bringer of the Red Dawn I'm pretty sure it's legal for a two color commander deck. I suppose that Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded could also do this in longer games

October 21, 2013 6:46 p.m.

It is not. It has all five colors in its color identity.

October 22, 2013 12:55 a.m.

bhayes8 says... #25

infinitemana, yeah, vampirelazarus is correct, the only mana symbols on a card the exluded from color identity are in reminder text such as the w/b symbol in the extort text.

But I may consider Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded for a sideboard possibility.

Thank you for the suggestion.
