So I heard you hate slivers... —Feb. 6, 2016

Yeah, my opponents hate them too. And on that slightly rude note, I bid farewell to the helpful old comments and welcome some new ones!

Sliver nightmare!

I've been thinking a deck with easy access to Indestructible creatures (i.e. Sliver Hivelord ) could really make use of Lethal Vapors . You can still play creatures, they can't and eventually one of your opponents has to skip a turn.

Whoa! What an evil idea carpecanum, I love it.

i hate Slivers. my friend plays with them and his tokens become 7/7 along with other buffs, all from 2 Megantic Slivers. i have to Flare-Blitz him quickly before the whole nest comes out. it's insane. i'm just lucky his Slivers dont get Indestructable yet.

Ha! A common sentiment ticked-off-squirrel. There's no getting around the fact that Slivers are giant douche-lords. I just texted your friend and let him know about Sliver Hivelord . Sorry Holmes!

With Sliver Hivelord you may want to consider adding some board wipe since your creatures will be indestructible. You may also want to consider adding some more counters against boardwipes as well (namely Merciless Eviction, False Prophet)

Thanks for the feedback guys, greatly appreciated. PepsiAddicted, here are my thoughts on the suggestions...

  • Descendants' Path: I've wrestled as to whether or not I should include this. Although it's an awesome tribal effect, with 66 non-sliver cards in the deck, the thought of losing a key spell (or land even) to the bottom of my deck stings.
  • Adaptive Automaton: Very cool creature that has served me well in other tribal decks...I may see if I can make room for him here.
  • Quick Sliver: I like this sliver, I just don't know what to cut for it. I definitely see the benefit flash could add...Hmmmm.
  • AEther Vial: Would definitely run this but I don't have one. Awesome card.
  • Wild Pair: I used to have this card in here but I took it out in favour of Rite of Replication. I didn't really have much success with it, perhaps just unlucky?
  • Aluren: It's a cool card with good potential here, but I tend to shy away from quasi-group hug cards. I'm selfish that way.
  • Shared Triumph: I should be running this here - Like Adaptive Automaton, extra tribal pump is always gravy. Delicious, steaming gravy.
  • Commune with Nature: Maybe? I've never used this card in any decks before - Have you had much success with it?
  • Alpha Status: Could be good, especially if my slivers have evasion (Shifting Sliver etc.)
  • Heartstone: This needs to go in.
  • Frenzy Sliver: I would have a tough time finding a home for this little guy - My personal preference leans toward static pump rather than conditional pump.
  • Cryptic Gateway: This needs to go in.
  • Call to the Kindred: I link this card to Descendants' Path - Powerful effect but could also be really disappointing as I watch all of those spells/enchantments/artifacts/lands that I need go to the bottom of my library. Perhaps I have the wrong attitude about them, shrug.
  • Harsh Mercy: Interesting card. I think I'd probably lean more toward the non-conditional wipe spells in conjunction with Sliver Hivelord like LastProtagonist suggested, but I do like the potential shenanigans of Harsh Mercy.
  • Patriarch's Bidding: Already running this and it's awesome.

  • So much food for thought, thanks again.

    ah i didnt see Patriarch's Bidding ;)

you are right about Call to the Kindred and Descendants' Path. they can be disappointing. you are also right about Harsh Mercy.

i had lots of fun with Commune with Nature with Slivers (not in EDH tho, cant tell if theres a difference, never played the format)

PepsiAddicted, I implore you to give EDH a shot. If you have a group of pals that enjoy casual MTG (I say casual but it can get fairly competitive as well), EDH is a great way to spend some time. Put on some tunes, grab another beer, wreck face with your quirky deck - Better yet, team up with a pal and try 2v2 2-headed giant EDH. My friends + work buds have been playing EDH almost exclusively for the past 5 years & it's been a blast.

When you discribe it like that it really makes me curious :)

I'd also recommend an EDH deck. In some ways it makes it easier to play slivers since a lot of players will focus the sliver deck before you can Voltron yourself to victory.

What are your thoughts on Dragon Arch and Prismatic Omen for slivers?

    February 1, 2015 11:57 p.m.

    Forkbeard says... #15

I think they're both excellent cards. I played with Prismatic Omen in here for a bit but ended up cutting it for a Manaweft Sliver. Between the 2 mana slivers, Chromatic Lantern & the mana base itself I find I'm usually ok for colour fixing. Although I dig the card, I'm not entirely sure Dragon Arch would merit a slot in here. It would come in handy for the 3 uber-slivs (Hivelord, Legion & Queen) but I couldn't use it for Overlord (has to be from hand) and the rest of my multicoloured slivers are only 2 or 3 casting cost anyway. I prefer Cryptic Gateway for cheating the fatties out.

Well, if you want all the cheap mana fixings, then Prismatic Omen would be your best bet, one of the cheapest and best around for its mana cost. Also why not put in Mirari's Wake? Ramp and an anthem for 5 mana isn't such a bad deal.

The comment right above yours addresses my thoughts on Prismatic Omen in here. And Mirari's Wake is already in the deck. So um, yeah! Slivers and stuff!

On my slivers deck Fragmentados FTW I exploit Fungus Sliver's synergy with Thorncaster Sliver, making your slivers damage themselves before blockers are declared for a +1/+1 counter on each. Then, if blocked, they get second +1/+1 counter. Sweet.

Interesting little combo hfvalenz, thanks. I'll have to consider what to remove if I choose to throw Fungus Sliver in here.

Fun deck, but i would add Konda's Banner :) on your commander or any legendary five-colored sliver, it would give +2/+2 to all your slivers, no matter what color they are

Excellent call yannou38! I'll have to get my hands on one and try it out in here, thanks.

no problem, i kinda found it by chance when reading card list and immediately thought about your deck :-)

Tunnel Vision into Living Death is a little combo my friend uses. On a side note, Genesis Wave can pump out slivers like crazy if you have manaweft out. Prophet of Kruphix let's you have a turn during everybody else's turn. It wins games, by itself, every time. Frenetic Sliver helps you dodge board wipes.

btw: you can't gain control of a creature with Overlord's ability while Ward Sliver is out.

Great suggestions Lanzo493. I generally tutor up Ward Sliver or Shifting Sliver for death-swing evasion when required. Ward definitely has a home in here. As for the other suggestions, I like 'em (especially Prophet of Kruphix - you're right, it's usually an auto-include in decks running ). I have all of those cards too...Perhaps I'll tinker with the deck a bit and test them out.

    November 4, 2015 7:24 p.m.

Add in Venom Sliver and Diffusion Sliver. Venom Sliver is just annoying af, and it goes well with Thorncaster Sliver Pew pew pew, opponent creatures are all dead. Diffusion Sliver provides some protection. +1, I love slivers too. Here's my prison sliver deck: The winter they came...
