Delirium (ability): If there are four or more card types among cards in your graveyard, card(s) with delirium gain an ability.

Deck:

This deck filled with creepy crawlers from the depths of the Ulvenwald aims to defeat your opponents with an array of combat tricks, removal and delirium based creature abilities.

Delirium enablers:

Hope of Ghirapur and Sinister Concoction are your primary delirium enablers and can help get you to delirium as quickly as turn 2. Included in this suite of enablers are Grim Flayer, Eldritch Evolution and Demon of Catastrophes.

  • Hope of Ghirapur: not only does this card contribute to delirium by offering two card types for your graveyard (artifact & creature), but it serves as a great tempo card - wether it be to stall as you try to get yourself to delirium or to better position your board state- the ability to sacrifice this creature after having done damage to your opponent with it, gives you some control against your opponents game plan by not allowing them to cast non creature spells until your next turn.
  • Sinister Concoction: a very underrated piece of removal that is excellent in discard decks and delirium decks. This piece of removal helps enable delirium and once it’s on the battlefield, it activates at instant speed and it can’t be countered by conventional counter magic spells (since it’s an enchantment and not an instant or sorcery).
  • Grim Flayer: another powerful card that enables delirium by helping you dump up to three cards from your library to your graveyard (aka surveil 3).
  • Eldritch Evolution: beyond giving you an option to Emerge your creatures into Demon of Catastrophes and Ishkanah, Grafwidow, once this spell resolves it will get two card types into your graveyard (creature and sorcery).
  • Demon of Catastrophes: this finisher’s additional casting cost (sacrificing a creature) can help you hit delirium as it adds a card type to your graveyard (creature).

Once delirium is enabled:

  1. Inexorable Blob- each time you attack with this creature, you get a token: 3/3 ooze token tapped and attacking. This helps you go wide and can quickly become problematic for your opponents, especially in multiples.
  2. Ishkanah, Grafwidow- when this creature enters the battlefield, you get three token: 1/2 spider tokens with reach. [While we’re on the subject of spider tokens, Spider Spawning gives this finisher more depth as it has synergy with its second ability].
  3. Grim Flayer- this creature gains +2/+2 to become a respectable 4/4 threat with trample and surveil 3 for only two mana.
  4. Deathcap Cultivator- this mana ramp creature of the deck gains deathtouch.

Card draw:

Control/Removal:

Each piece of “control/removal” in the deck is CMC 1 to allow for steady, mana efficient options during the course of the match.
