Going to Make a big swangin Knights Recursion deck

The goal with this deck is to swarm your opponents with an overwhelming amount of knights. Knights are great for giving each other anthem, a lot of them already have keywords like first strike, flying, lifelink, etc. Which makes them great cards to just have on the board. Our average CMC is pretty low so we dont have that much ramp and we have a decent amount of lands still. However, that being said we have a shit ton of card draw engines. From our commander, and from cards we've put in the deck, most of the card draw is repeatable. Which is great because we don't ever really want to be in a place where we don't have cards in our hands with this commander. We want to be able to get our creatures our for free or for cheap. Odric is in this deck because at minimum if our commander is our everything has first strike + flying. Not to mention the slosh of keywords that will be added naturally from our creatures. We have a few tutors to make sure we can get our wincons, or certain knights into our graveyard so we can cast them for free. There is a f-ton of removal in the deck as well, so we should be able to protect ourselves hopefully at all times. I have a good feeling about this deck.

The deck is super susceptible to board wipes or destruction of sidar. Anti-board wipes like Flawless Maneuver will need to be added. There’s not a lot of ramp so when you do get board wiped it feels really bad. Especially since you’re relying on your commander to get stuff back out of the graveyard. You’ll need a lot of protection or counterspells to prevent that. Will need to make edits and add those later.

This section will describe how these knights are going to go from small 3/3's with a few key words to the monster's that will trample your opponents with hooves.

Keywords

  1. Odric, Lunarch Marshal - this is a big dick swinger in this deck. Knights have a bunch of keywords. So EVERY combat, we will be giving all our knights whatever keywords are on the battlefield. In the command zone we automatically have flying and first strike. Meaning the rest of our Knights will have this as well. Additionally, we could use Vault of the Archangel to give them death touch and life link as well. This would make our knights indestructible, flyers, with life link using our commander, the land, and odric. The combo potential to buff our knights is amazing in this deck.
  2. Herald of Hoofbeats - gives all of your knights evasion. Better than flying, since horsemanship is more rare.
  3. Kinsbaile Cavalier - gives double strike
  4. Knight Exemplar - gives anthem and indestructible
  5. Silverblade Paladin - Another way to give double strike.
  6. True Conviction - can be potential wincon since we get double strike + life link we'll be really hard to deal with.
  7. Valiant Knight - gives double strike
  8. Vault of the Archangel - gives deathstrike and lifelink. Makes our commander indestructible essentially.
  9. Wintermoor Commander - gives indestructible

Anthem affects

  1. Icon of Ancestry - anthem effect, let's us select a knight from the top 3 of library.
  2. Invasion of New Phyrexia   - puts a bunch of knight tokens on battlefield, gives card advantage, and knight tribal buff / protection when transformed.
  3. Paladin Class - gives an anthem and will make our commander a doubler striker + buff it for each other attacking creature.
  4. Radiant Destiny - this is going to give us an anthem affect. However, it will also give our knights vigilence which will be very important. Since, we will likely be swinging out every turn. We will want to make sure we can protect ourselves from the clap back.
  5. Syr Alin, the Lion's Claw - gives an anthem affect when attacking
  6. The Circle of Loyalty - can get this out for cheap, it creates knight tokens, and gives anthem. What's not to like.
  7. Thistledown Liege - anthem for white and for blue creatures. Can give +2/+2 to creatures who have both.
  8. Valiant Knight - anthem effect
  9. Vanquisher's Banner - anthem effect
  10. Door of Destinies

Other effects

  1. Locthwain Lancer - drains our opponents whenever a knight of ours dies. Also has menace. Which will work good with Odric, Lunarch Marshal
  2. Metallic Mimic - gives other knights +1/+1 counters when they etb.
  3. Rogue's Passage - makes our creatures unblockable.
  4. Stoneforge Masterwork - just a cheap way to buff our commander or other creature we want to protect. - removed this from the decklist because Door of Destinies is one more and just way better.
  5. Vodalian Wave-Knight - gives all of our creatures counters whenever we draw a card?! It's a way stronger Cathars' Crusade. Additionally, could be a cool commander.

We don't play a lot of recursion spells in this deck since our commander has access to our graveyard. We really don't need to have a whole lot other than a few standard options:

  1. Haakon, Stromgald Scourge - allows us to cast knights from the graveyard.
  2. Reanimate allows any creature to be reanimated from any graveyard onto our board.
  3. Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir - let's us recur any of our knights FOR FREE.
  4. Cavalier of Night
  5. Cavalier of Dawn
  6. Entomb - send a creature directly to the graveyard, attack with the commander, recur it for free. All for 1 black mana.

Breathless Knight Synergizes really well in this deck. Especially the lifelink flying. Can be super useful when odric is on the board.

This deck doesn't have a lot of ramp however, i believe what it lacks in ramp it lacks for in card advantage. Since, we can also play off our graveyard loot effects I am counting as card advantage.

  2. Black Market Connections - pay for draw / ramp

  4. Chivalric Alliance - basically a phyrexian arena without the lifeloss
  5. Elenda and Azor - expensive but doable card advantage
  6. Kindred Discovery - repeatable
  7. Locthwain Lancer - repeatable
  8. Midnight Reaper - repeatable
  9. Rhystic Study - repeatable
  10. Syr Elenora, the Discerning - single use
  11. Teferi's Ageless Insight - repeatable
  12. Vanquisher's Banner - repeatable

  1. Acclaimed Contender - choose one from multiple options from the top 5 of the deck, rest go onto bottom of lib.

  4. Thalia's Lancers - search for a legendary card, most likely a knight like Syr Konrad, the Grim

Some important combos that I think should be highlighted in the deck are as follows:

  1. Kindred Discovery + Vodalian Wave-Knight this combo can be extremely disgusting in this deck. It allows you to draw multiple cards every time you swing with more than 1 knight. Or every time a knight ETB’s which should be every turn. Additionally, it buffs your knights for EVERY draw. It’s REALLY good. Also, these triggers happen before combat so there’s chance of your opponents not realizing what’s going on before it too late.
  2. Breathless Knight + Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir or Syr Konrad, the Grim every time a knight leaves the graveyard you can drain or pump the flying life linker. Locthawin Lancer can also be really good because you draw and if your knights die you don’t get drained. Your opponents do.
  3. Odric + any knight keywords is great.
