A Shockingly Good Time!

Standard Aggro Budget Burn UR (Izzet)

Sideboard

Howdy! This is a deck that I've made for Guilds of Ravnica standard, it's pretty straight up, play a dude or two, play 7 (or less) instants and win. I don't know how you expect me to explain it further. Change the sideboard as you feel, it's very experimental as of now.

As always, feedback is deeply appreciated! Thanks for stopping by, partner.

Howdy partners! I've been trying this deck out on Arena, and it typically does pretty well, it storms off a lot of the times as planned, but, since the current state of Arena, there's only 1 match games, so, no sideboards. Due to this, there are some very easy decks I can list that this deck can fail to beat consistently. These are as so, Mono-Green Stompy, Jeksai, Esper, and Grixis control.

Against Stompy, there's just nothing you can do against a Giganotosaurus. It hits the field and you just stare at it, and get sad. Sideboarding in counterspells for big bois like that would improve this match up intensely.

As for the control decks, they like controlling things. Grixis control is typically the better match up since they usually run more burn than counterspells, so you're able to set up a Drake and have it live a turn or two maybe. Esper is difficult to deal with since they can't be tempted with the love of burn spells and just run all the good counterspells and removal. Jeksai so far has been the most difficult, due to their heavy counterspells and some burn.

I understand I didn't go very in depth with the control match-ups in that paragraph, so, that's why I made a new one. The issue against control with only 1 match, is that you don't get to add your counterspells to save yourself from theirs. That's one of the worst things. The actual worst thing is, they can take the Risk Factor damage. That's the reason I have a 2x of Chemister's Insight in the sb to replace them with so you can get straight draw. Unfortunately, the counterspells usually hit these late game and you just get stuck drawing 8-9 lands in a row with no possible way of coming back because even if you draw your 19/4 drake, they'll just counter it. (It's happened before).

I feel like Niv-Mizzet, Parun might be something that could potentially be added into the sideboard to deal with control. He is uncounterable, which is nice, and he will always net you at least one card when they cast a removal spell to kill him.

That's all I have as of the day or two of me testing this wacky new deck out, thank you to MurderForBrunch, Oldschool930, and GentlemanInBlack for helping with the deck so far, you're putting out good advice and enjoying my "cleverness." As always, I'd love more feedback and it's always appreciated!
