I've wanted a fun +1/+1 counter deck for a while but so often they turn into just smashing with big creatures to win. Shalai and Hallar helps change that, offering an additional source of damage beyond combat.

Removing the big infinite combos between my commander and The Red Terror, War Elemental or Heliod, Sun-Crowned. Sure they work well but I just don't want to win that way. I actually swapped in other cards in place of those shortly after I started playing the deck and never looked back. Adding in some fun other +1/+1 counter value cards instead.

Add Court of Garenbrig, remove The Red Terror. Add some counters, maybe double them all, maybe draw a card. Seems fun.
Add Virtue of Loyalty, remove War Elemental. Add counters to everything and untap at the end of my turn? Sounds fun, let's try it.
Add Arwen, Weaver of Hope, remove Heliod, Sun-Crowned. Efficient way to add counters to each new creature.
Add Momentous Fall, remove Eladamri's Call. Tutors are boring. I want more card draw, especially at instant speed.
Add Aberrant, remove Cankerbloom. A more fun removal option that actually generates +1/+1 counters.
Add Tyrant Guard, remove Mayael's Aria. More protection that also generates +1/+1 counters. The Aria was neat but very conditional and telegraphed - my opponents would never let it live to win me the game.
Add Ohran Frostfang, remove Armorcraft Judge. The Judge was too conditional, when I was behind already he did nothing. Hoping Frostfang helps draw more cards and improves combat for me.
Add Beast Whisperer, remove Exotic Orchard. I think with my ramp situation, I'm okay to cut one land for a card draw engine, right?
Add The Great Henge, remove Rogue's Passage. I'm ok to cut another land too, right? Especially if the thing I'm adding can produce mana and add +1/+1 Counters... right??
